Does the Nano just look like a thin downed Ipod Mini, and the new Shuffle is like the Nano has been cut in half?!

they made more colors because people obviously demanded them so i guess their gonna get more customers now?

I got the white Nano but sure do want one of those green ones. I really want the big iPod but im sure when I buy it they will come out with the long rumored 16:9 video iPod,lol. I couldn't live without my iPod, love the damn thing.

Mr. Picklesworth

I have to say I'm quite tired of these iPods. I hope nobody replaces an old one just for a new case! I know it's not really their fault that they've become a ridiculous fashion statement, but they are selling way too well.

The Creative media players are far more efficient to use and don't even need a coveted holy PC program except a file manager.
Just plug it in, copy the files (no conversion necessary, even for videos), pull it out and use it.
They even plug into AC outlets right out of the box!
You can even replace the battery. Yah, you read that right: Some rocket scientist actually figured out how to built an MP3 player with a battery that can be replaced.

I don't understand how it's remotely exciting that iTunes can spend ages processing songs to produce gapless playback.
With a more open MP3 player, I could have been doing that with any program ages ago. Also, I would expect the Mp3 player itself to do this gapless playback. (You know, using it's enormous read-ahead and rather decent hardware?).

The new shuffle looks cool, but... $80 for an MP3 player with a mind of its own and no screen?

How do they plan to compete with Microsoft, Sony and Creative when all they do is introduce more colours and brighter screens?
Sure, Nintendo kept an edge with the Lite, but that was because the original DS was obviously lacking in some ways and the lite looks and feels, at first glance, a lot nicer.

iPod had a dark screen? Unless you watch movies on it, who knew?
Longer battery life is nice, and was needed. I have a question I would ask Apple: Is this longer battery life mostly thanks to an improved battery, or improved hardware?
It would be most interesting if it was mostly a change of battery, though I guess it's more likely to be a solid combination of the two. Good move to address that, though; they really needed to.

So, obviously, I'm not impressed with what is for the most part the stagnation of their iPod.
Simple improvements are important, but when actual innovations and fresh ideas sell for that same amount if not less, it is not good.

The iTV sounds like a nice thing, though!
It could do with being cheaper since you could buy a video game console (with Wifi capability) for that money.
Still, it's a good and fresh thing.

Yes, I agree 100% with you Mr. Picklesworth! Creative MP3 players, like the ZEN Vision:M, is way better than an iPod. The ZEN Vision:M has everything an iPod has, plus more, such as radio, voice recording, etc. I really don't know why the iPod was considered a good product... You can get better MP3 players with more features for less money!

Ipod nano's are still the best out there in my opinion. The touch wheel interface is the quickest and best way to search around. It's size is great, and the new metal one piece case it has makes it even better. Plus the Nike+ipod gadget is awesome and makes me run more. Yes Itunes is bloated but just use an alternative software like anapod if it bothers you so badly. Personally I just use Itunes since it takes care of my podcasts. You'll never really need more than 8 gigs of flash memory for music ever.

ipods are appealing to the eye alot moreso than other mp3 players and they have tons of marketing for it so its become a synonym for an mp3 player... like kleenex is for a facial tissue, bandaid for an adhesive bandage, wow for an mmo (nowdays).... ipod for mp3 player...
personally the best one i like is the older ipod shuffles due to thier superior sound quality

Yeah, even as a confirmed anti apple zealot myself I own an old skool shuffle simply because of the sound quality, form factor, portability, direct USB charging and drag and drop. Not having to use Itunes was an important  factor for me  ( http://shuffle-db.sourceforge.net/ ). They seem to have got it all wrong with the new shuffle though heh.

I already have the Mini, but I have ordered the new shuffle for my son for Christmas, no more bloody harry potter on my pod!!!!

I vote Vision M  :) But that's only cause I will always beleive apple is good for nothing except for quicktime     IMO and that I actually just sold my used Vision:M on ebay for 250,  so I do have expirience with that and my g/f used to have those ipod things so I know how those work also. I was over joyed to see Creative receive the 100Mil they got from Apple over the patent settlement. Head on comparisons between Creative and Apple products always turn up as "Apple wins on physical appearance and iTunes, Creative takes the rest"
