Also the Wii wont have a DVD player built in but it will have a wireless nic built in. Which would you rather have? Don't know about you but I had to pay $100 xtra to get the XboX360 wireless usb adapter.

Considering the SNES was $250 at launch, I think Nintendo's price structure for Wii is fine.

Sega Saturn was $400.

I don't really give a rat's ass about the 360, but would someone who does possibly post what the "just $50 more" 'core' system comes with?  I have a feeling that it isn't that impressive and I'm tired of hearing the bullshit about how "for just $50 more ..." when we all know the core system is a crippled Windows ME of consoles.

That Core system is a joke lol. You can't even buy them around here because the premium bundle is a way better deal

I've been on the fence about Wii (Revolution) from the get go.  Frankly I can't say this latest news has made one bit of difference in my mind. I'm still on the fence. I will ultimately make my decision weather or not to buy Wii based on the "fun factor" of it's game offerings. The Wii is certainly not cutting edge next generation technology so the only thing going for it is the "fun factor", and Nintendo's large game IP.  I'm open minded about the wiimote/nunchuck features and the innovative game concepts Nintendo has been trying to push.  Only time will tell if these game concepts are actually as fun as they seem in the real world.  I will give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt after seeing the direction they have gone with the DS.  However, you will not see me standing in line at launch day, like I will be for the limited release of the PS3.

I don't understand why people are making a big deal about Wii not coming with an extra controller.  Isn't a single controller pretty much an industry standard with new game consoles?  Also, the $250 launch price seems reasonable by today's standards, especially considering Wii has built in WiFi capability and a game pack-in.

For you ".. but for only $50 more you can get a 360 ..." I'm working on a document:

I took most of the info from Xbox's own site.  The more you look at it, the better deal a $250 Wii sounds.

250 is a steal for built in wifi and a "souped-up gamecube". I hate that phrase myself since it's real smart of them to stay on the same architecture as the previous generation. Now everyone who programmed for the gamecube has years of experience on it meaning they will have greater ability to bust out better games since they can worry about gameplay and not figuring out the new system. This also allows more creativity for developers since the costs of development will be much cheaper and will help out the small companies. It's virtual console looks better and has more features than the Xbox 360's.

For those who worry about controller prices, get your friends to buy their own controllers since profiles will be stored on the controller itself making it unique to the owner.

Also the Wii Sports packin is great since anyone can pick up and play it. If you visit someone new and they have a Wii, you instantly know you got something you can do that both parties can play making it a great icebreaker.

the console pricing itself is not that bad, but 60 bucks for a spare controller? give me a break... bah, none of this matters anyway, nintendo want's to make money right out of the boxz? fine, i'll pirate all of they'r games anyway heh, that's why I'm waiting untill the wii gets cracked, I guess it won't take long.
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

i hope Nintendo dont mess up on the last hurdle and price the Wii too much for Europe and give it a late release date like PS3

pte

The European price is even more ridicilous. Almost twice the price they pay for it in Japan, the currency of euro is better than dollar so it shouldn't be the other way around. I don't understand how they just push the price up the farer it gets from Japan.

Gotrice

I hate people who cry and flame consols/games that haven't even been realeased yet.

Don't forget about Europe's Import tax and tariffs add a lot to the price.

There's a psychological factor too.  If something is too cheap, won't you remember your mother always telling you, "you get what you pay for"?  You and I know that Wii will be an awesome console, but is some random person walks into a store and they see that they can have, for instance:

Gamecube: $99
PS2: $129
Xbox: $199
Wii: $199
Xbox 360: $299/$399
PS3: $499/$599

Then you notice that the games are all cheaper as well...  This doesn't send a good image.
