DS Lite won't power up - any advice?

I've been fixing electrical things for years now, and am pretty good at soldering, but this is my first experience with a faulty DS. I've got a spare DS Lite that won't power up. When the power cable is plugged in, the light comes on for a second or so, then goes off. Pressing the power switch achieves nothing.
From what I've read this is the behaviour expected when there's no battery in the DS, except there is - and the battery is good, because it works perfectly well in my other DS (and I've also tried the battery from my DS in the spare one, and it doesn't work).

After a bit of googling I discovered the F1/F2 fuse fix, which I've done - soldering a bit of wire across first fuse F2, then F1. This hasn't fixed the problem.

What else could it be? Any suggestions?
Failing that, I guess I've got a DS worth of spare parts! At least the screens are in good condition.

Your symptoms would seem indicate a problem with fuse F2. Are you sure you identified fuse F2 correctly on the PCB?  Did you check your solder job with a multimeter? Did you try using a different battery?  Double check all ribbon connections because DS will not power up if the LCD ribbon connections are loose.

DS short circuit + blown fuse != "Bricker"
