iPhone (and iPod Touch) Games

Apple released the 2.0 software for the iphone last week which introduced the "App Store" which is a place to get apps (and games) for the iphone and ipod touch. I have bought a few of the games and have enjoyed them so far. It's like having a DS and a Wii in one hand held device. The iphone (and ipod touch) have better graphics then the DS and the motion controls are very smooth. I played Crash Bandicoot Cart which is like Mario Kart with Crash instead. You control the kart by holding the iphone (or ipod touch) side ways and turning it like a wheel to make the cart turn in that direction. You use your power ups by touching an on screen icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. Perfect controls! Tetris is also alot of fun. You tap the screen to rotate the pieces and make a downward flicking motion to make the pieces fall quickly. I also have Texas Hold em which you can play multiplayer over wifi. Some of the games allow you to play multiplayer over wifi AND the phone network. Super Monkeyball is fun, but it feels like the controls are not as tight as they could be like they are for Crash Kart. There are no triple A titles like the DS has in Mario, Zelda, Metroid, ect, but it is definatly gonna be an amazing gaming platform. It's also nice that you can get all the games from the Apps Store and download them wirelessly to your iphone no matter where you are at, no disc or cartridges to worry about. Don't forget, just because you don't have ATT and an iphone, you can get an ipod touch and still enjoy the games and apps. The games range in price from .99 to $9.99

It's hard to see how good the graphics are, but here are a few videos of the games in action:

Trism is an awesome puzzler that is a LOT of fun!

Thanks for the information, I'm currently selling some of my Modded Consoles (PSP with LED's ect.) to get one of these. I am really impressed about how good it runs 3D applications.

Have you ever used an iphone? My wife had a Treo and it was total shit. The OS looked and worked like it came out in 1980. Treo needs to hurry up with that new Linux OS cause the Treo OS is dated very badly. Treo is just the poor mans blackberry.

Honestly, the reason I back Treos so much is because I beta test devices from Palm and every Treo and Centro I have was free thanks to Palm lol. My friends all have iphones so ya I've tried them, STILL rolling with my treo. I mean the iphone is supposed to be the "messiah" of cellphones yet its missing basic features like MMS, wtf's up with that. The ONLY thing I liked about it was the nice big screen. But until the phone does something my Treo can't then I'll pass  8)

I will admit that after the new 3G iPhone with GPS came out, I was tempted lol. I'm a sucker for stuff like that. But you made some good points about Palm too. No wifi sucks. The old ass Palm OS sucks compared to newer phones. The designs, lol, are straight from the stone age. Even my Centro looks aged now. Oh well free is free :D

DeVS, I'm calling you out!!!  :police:

Ok, my Treo was in my shirt pocket. Afte I bent over to flush the toliet......SPLASH. Exact same thing that happened to my DS, unfortunately the Treo isn't as sturdy. Anyways, I went to ATT to get a new phone. Anyway, they had nothing I really liked. I REALLY wanted a HTC Touch. My boss has one and its pretty spiffy. But ATT doesn't offer it. And after using smartphones for so long, going back to a plain ole cellphone was out of the question lol. Soooooooooooooooo, I went with my arch nemesis, the Iphone  ::). I'd have to say that after a day of tinkering around with it, it sorta kicks ass......SORTA lol. And $199 was a steal. Love the interface. I kinda miss my keyboard though but I suspect I'll get used to it, or go back to using my Centro, which I doubt since its keypad is so small and girly.

Now, time to hack. I need info on where to go to get the goodies like games and apps, jailbreaking, etc....preferably free

I wish I had 1 of those.

But they're so insanely expensive here.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Nice 754... I unfortunately am sticking with my blackberry since I have to have one for work anyway... I'd like one of the next gen ones... Maybe the Thunder/Storm will be cool... Nothing like an iPhone surely.

Yes. You can still use the phone like normal and even still use the AppStore if you want.

They already did. Jailbreaking allows pirated games to be run. Super Monkey Ball has been gettin me through alot of boring days at work lol  ;D
