I copied the new ver. of flashme onto my SD card, after I backed up and formated the card, of course.  Followed the instructions and bam!  I'm back in biz.  Oh, FYI, SD users, don't use the "patched" ver. of Mario Kart for CF, it bricked my DS.

All mario karts version ( original included ) brick DSes with flashme (vesions before 5 )!!!


You have to install FALSHME 5 to play mario kart and Nintendo Wifi Conection Games!

Posts like this are what spread false rumors and fear in the community. There is no bricker in the patcher mario kart... It's mario kart itself that is overwriting parts of firmware that are NORMALLY empty. The old flashme used this area. Loopy realized this problem and released a fixed version that no longer used the space that mario kart was writing to.

Sorry if this has been repeated, but could I flash the DS without having a passme 2? I'm getting the MK bundle, and it would be cool if I didn't need to buy a passme to use flashme.

Afraid you do. The newer DSes require a passme 2, just like the old DSes required an original passme or wifi me.

Problem solved with a 512mo compact flash, formated FAT juste before putting de flashme.nds on it.

My 256mo Kingston that I use with my supercard don't work with this manipulation strange isn'it ?

Here is a great story for everyone.  I was installing Flashme v4 on my brothers DS,  a fresh install of flashme, upgrade from stock DS firmware.  I was so excited to show him how cool his flashed DS would be, as I was busy jamming my screwdriver in the hole for the SL1 contact, and not paying attention  to what else I was doing, MY THUMB HIT THE POWER BUTTON!  

I thought his DS was done for, knowing that it didn't already have flashme installed, I figured that the recovery would not work.  When I powered on the DS I got  nothing but the green power light, but tried the flashme recovery a few times with no luck.

I got my tri-wing driver today and began taking the screws from the DS to try Darkfader's fix for bricked DS's without flashme.  I decided to come over here and do some more reading, after seeing the post in the quote above,  I freshly formatted a different CF card and copied Only Flashme V5 to it, stuck it in the SC boot with A+B+start+select wait a second, press A and flash successfully.  The DS Lives Again!
