How to distinguish the fake card

Official DSTT decide to take action on the fake below:

1)      In the future we’ll take some way to spread the programme “DSTT fake-killer” like video clips.

2)      No more warning, “DSTT fake-killer” will damage the fake directly (Note: TF card may be damaged too)

3)      “DSTT fake-killer” don’t damage NDS/NDSL

4)      Other brands mustn’t use DSTT kernel, otherwise risk it yourself.

5)      The buyer whom purchase the fake unluckily must return it to the seller ASAP and guard own interests.

So they are stating that they are damaging the fake card and microSD. How is that possible? I didn't think you could damage either, especially the microSD.

I feel sorry for the buyer who is unaware that he has a fake DSTT. Hopefully a smart programmer will remove the damaging code.

It makes absolutely no sense to punish users that may have unknowingly purchased a "fake" DSTT flash cart. If the DSTT team can detect a fake cart with a software update then why not just make the software not work with fake carts? For the DSTT team to go to the extreme of purposely ruining user property and memory cards is completely insane. If this story is true then the DSTT team should be banned from the DS scene IMO.

yeah that's my thoughts exactly!

they should just leave the FAKE cards stuck with the last 1.15 update so in time games will eventually stop working much like old cards that have been surpassed with modern updated ones 

Would not surprise me if someone does not try taking some kinda legal action (although not sure how that would stand with an illicit device lol ?? )

  ...against the TTDS team for destruction of their card ... even tho its dirt cheap not everyone can afford to get them replaced or even pay the returns postage to get an exchange!

Why not just display a message "Your DSTT card is fake, please contact your reseller" and then let the user press "A" to continue to normal functionality?
