Hey All,
Just a quick question I've just got myself a super card mini and I wanted to put some movie clips on there; I found that a good program to you is filmplay.gba (v:1.3) which I'm guessing most people use (due to it being the one from the super card site) but as far as a converter goes to convert clips/sound into a file format that this program can read I can't seem to find the corresponding converter (v:1.3) all I seem to find is either 1.22 which is on the super card site or v:1.5 which I don't know what that works with... I have downloaded both of these versions and converted using these converters but I get a pixelated mess in which you can't make out any scence of the clip although the sound works perfect. (yes before you ask I'm converting at best quality and the files I've tried to convert have been ones that the converter recognizes and plays) Now I'm guessing that I do need the converter 1.3 but the main website to get that from looks like its down (www.movieadvance.com/download.htm) is there anywhere I can get this from and if not are there any suggestions or things I'm possibly doing wrong?
Thanks

kkan

are you using this on GBA or with a DS ??

with ds most people use MOONSHELL and DPG videos :)

The site gbatemp.net (you will have to join, but has alot of info) has a thread for this topic called Movies on gba. There are 140 post on this thread, good luck and let us know what you find!

Hey, thanks for the welcome,
I've been pulling my hair out trying to get this thing working correctly, due to me using a GBA micro I can't use Moonshell and I did have a look at the forum topic on this site and the link you gave 'Movies on GBA' but unfortunately the topic might have been deleted because it's not showing up although I did do a search through the entire forum for anything related to 'movies', 'clips' and other wise but still found nothing of use. I managed to find the converter that matches with the 1.3 player but that still seems to be turning up the same pixellated result although the sound still perfect, I've tried converting different formats of video too but no difference in what I get at the end. Any suggestions?

Here is what it looks like:

Here is this also, GBA Tools and Software, A collection of useful software! .  You may also find more info (playing music, etc...)

Wish I had seen this topic soon.  Check out the link that maikjacobi posted, as I wrote up that information specifically because of this video corruption issue.  In essence, the converter software they have on the Supercard site is the wrong version, but by using Archive.org on the movieadvance.com site you can find a working download link for the old version.  There's a link on that PocketHeaven wiki page.

That said though, you'll still have some problems when playing back movies.  For instance, for the most part the controls will not work except for the L+R+Start+Reset one which resets the entire thing.  Also, with my test video I was unable to watch a movie converted at the highest quality settings, as it stuttered often.  Picture quality isn't all that bad, but it's not clear enough to watch anime with subtitles for instance.  Also make sure your file names are no more than 8 characters long or else it will be difficult to determine which one is which in the filmplay.gba file browser.

Another one you can look into is METEO, which also has a guide up at the PocketHeaven wiki.  The main problem of course is that with this, you're limited to a final output size of 32 MB, which means that you can get only 5 minutes at max quality and 25 minutes at the lowest quality.  There's an updated version of METEO that's 1.4.0 or something like that, which you may be interested in if you decide to try it out, but you'd want to use the older version first since it's translated better.

Thanks for the feedback on this although still no luck I'm sure I'm doing everything right, I did notice the version differences with Movie Advance and eventually found the correct converter but still for some reason get the same pixeled error pictured above, I did though try out Meteo and got the latest version although when I run it all I get is a white screen and no sound at all it just sits as a white screen not even the short cuts to return to the main SuperCard menu work.  :(

**update**
would firmware have anything to do with this? (if so how would I upgrade that/know what firmware I have?)

You're sure you installed the correct version from the archived site and are launching the right version?  The one you want will be in "C:\Program Files\GBA Media\Movie_Converter.exe" and not in "C:\Program Files\Movie Player\Movie_Converter.exe"

Yep that's the location; under the 'GBA Media' file.

I've attached a zip file to this post.  In it is the setup file I used to install the converter, the filmplay.gba file I used, and then the "GBA Media" and "Movie Player" folders from my Program Files folder, which the setup should make for you automatically but I included just in case.

I'll test Meteo on the Supercard sometime soon.  I'll admit I never actually tested it on the Supercard, only on my Flash2Advance Ultra.
