Does anyone have megabox working?  This program seems interesting to me, but it seems hard to find everything I need to make it work.  I would like to run the emulators it is suppose to run like nes, snes, gba, and mame.

The official website is confusing to me and I would like to have a link for an all in one download for all the files and tutorial needed to run this.

I also have a couple question for anyone who is in the know on this.

1.  If I partition 10 gigs of my 80 gig hard drive for an alternate operating system will I risk losing any of my games/files already on the hard drive?

2.  I thought I read that you need a 720 resolution tv to run this.  I have a standard definition tv and am wondering if it is even worth my time if I don't have a 720 resoulution?

Thanks in advance for your answers and for the all in one download package link if you can provide.

I haven't messed with megabox myself. You will lose data if you partition you harddrive again. If you have a USB harddrive you can use the PS3 backup utility to back everything up first. The backup utility works pretty well and transferred all my DLC, including RockBand stuff, to my new 320GB harddrive. I have a 10GB partition on my PS3 hardrive with a version of Ubuntu booting from DVD.  The problem is I cant figure out how to get the PS3 wireless networking to work with Ubuntu. I'm not very Linux savvy though.

When you say usb hard hard drive do you mean an external and not the 80 gig internal that came with it and use the usb ports on the PS3?  If so, I would be afraid that if I did partition the internal one that came with it that I would screw up the PS3 system files that came with it and brick my PS3.  Other than that I only have downloaded demos that I would not mind losing, game saves, and the free Pain game I got with my MGS4 bundle.

What can you do with the Ubunta?  Can you run emulators like SNES and MAME?  If so, and if I won't brick my system can you provide a link?  Thanks for the feedback.

When I say USB harddrive I mean one of those external harddrives that connect to your PC.  The PS3 will recognize USB harddrives when connected to the USB port.  If you have tons of DLC and game saves you can use the built-in PS3 backup utility under System settings in XMB. The PS3 backup utility is created and supported by Sony.  You can't "brick" your PS3 by partitioning or formatting your PS3 harddrive, or by using the PS3 backup utility. You can loose your game data if you do something wrong.

Because you don't have much DLC downloaded I wouldn't bother using the backup tool.  You can always just re-download Pain again for free from the playstation store. You will have to manually backup your game saves to a memory stick if you don't use the PS3 backup utility.

As far as if it's worth installing Ubuntu or any other version of Linux on you PS3 depends on your interests.  You might want to watch this video first . . .
