So I visited the official website, www.wiikey.cn and I noticed they were now promoting the supposedly new Wiikey v2 revision.  I have no illusions that the support they offer would be any better than the original one but I can't help but feel that that's about it for the original Wiikey modchip.  I wonder if it means that if we get some problematic games in the future, the old wiikey won't get anything anymore.

What do you guys think?

well, no one really knows if wiikey v1 will be supported or not. But, with that said, i think so as they came out with the v2 and will support both. I will say this, i just installed a wiikey v2 with the v4 wii-clip presoldered from ozmodschips and it was SUPER simple to install, all of 3 seconds. It took longer to take apart and put the wii back together by about 10 mins.

I'd suggest the original Wiikey was killed and buried long ago. GC audiostreaming doesn't work with the latest firmware. It only ever worked with 1.9g. So to say they're still supporting it now isn't really true.

I was worried about this issue at first but then i realized i never wanted to play the 2-3 GC games that require audiostreaming fix. I mainly wanted to play wii games which the wiikey v1 does perfectly. But with that said i thought the audiostream fix was working still since they fixed it

I think it's fairly obvious they didn't do a very good job where gc audio streaming is concerned, with that said, wiikey's primary function is to play wii games and so far, for every show-stopping game that has come along, the Wiikey team has responded with an update.  I was simply concerned that when another show-stopping game appears that the original wiikey will get the shaft.

It does look like there's a new firmware update on Wiikey 1.

Wiikey 1 update v1.99 BETA available!
A beta release supporting the original Wiikey 1 modchip is now available in the members area. This update fixes the 3X DVD issue and adds NSMB BCA support.

Well, that's also true. 
I find it strange that the Wiikey team would release an update for the old chip though.

Did you test GC audio streaming?

I heard GC audio streaming works, but no real confirmation, so treat it like a grain of salt.
