The corruption of all my effort

Yesterday night, something happened, something really bad happened. I opened my DS with my supercard slot1 inside. And it wouldnt work. So I took out the microsd to examine it, and lo behold it was corrupt! All my hours of gaming and all the time invested had disapeared as I was forced to format my card!  :ticked:

I had reached 12000BC (Zeal) on Chrono trigger!
I had reached chapter 5 in proffesor layton!
i had case 2 solved on appollo justice!

Of course a lot of other game saves were damaged in the process. But those were my main ones! I thought about posting to you guys asking for saves to these games, but so far from my googling I have concluded that doing so may not neccesarily yeild any results. So I ask you Oh brothers of pro'ness! What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to hack SAV files? Is there a Save file Database? Is there nothing I can do?!
P.S. starting from the beginning is my last option, because were talking about over 10hours of tedious gaming (especially because I have already done all of it before!) to go through.

Thank you

I humbly await your reply.

I always copy my .SAV files to my PC now and then, because that happens more often than it should.

Someone might know of a SAV editor, but this might help: http://cheats.gbatemp.net/

EDIT: 500 posts! :D

Will using cheats be able to get me back to where I was without having to play through it all? it will probably be easier with unlimited HP but still that's alot of time I gotta game on.

Perseid

You should look at the cheat list for the game you need but probably not.

My way round this is to use something like Subversion to back up my saves. I just check them in periodically and hey presto I can recover them or move them between cards very easily. Keep meaning to get around to writing some homebrew to do the check-in using WiFi without needing the Pc ;)

I had the same moment recently when I found my AW:DS save was reset. I only realised after restoring an old version and it still not working that it was due to a bad patch from the SC Patcher, and using an older patched version made my most up-to-date save work again. I'm @~146 hours of AW:DS, and my last good save was something like ~90 hours, so that would have been quite a loss!

Good luck!

So I guess I'm gonna have to use a cheat to get back to where I was. Does anyone have a cheat for chrono trigger? that was my most important one! and i havent been able to find cheats for it.

I think there is one posted. but its a broken link :(

jmr

heres both the jap & usa cheats cause i dont know which one you have

Thank you for the links  :smitten:

also thanks for the GBAtemp Cheat Database. but do you guys know why it gives them as 'DAT' files. how can i extract the right cheats for the game i want from this dat file?

EDIT: more problems pile on more problems... I cant run chrono trigger with the patch saver or it freezes at the beginning on a statement that says "initializing save". The thing is you need the patch saver to enable cheats! i guess my only option now is to appeal for a save. so please anyone outhere does anyone have a chrono trigger save. Anywhere near beating magus or getting to Zeal or anywhere close to that area?

err.. assuming you havent allready put loads of files onto the card, you should be able to recover them with software, would have been better if you hadn't formatted it, but its still possible.

masterX

I did try to do that, unfortunatly i only remembered i had the program after i formatted. i did try to recover it though but no files were found (only the OS :( ). I tried disk doctor and PCsomething recovery to try and get back my saves, but to no avail. Do you by any chance have any reccomendations, programs that may prove more successful?

Currently im trying my best to get a hold of some saves to get me back to where i was. I had thought that you could hack save files some way and get back to where you were. I did that on gears of war, but i guess thats madly different due to the format of the systems in use. Please guys give me some advice and help. I really do appreciate it.

thank you
