Yes, I've been checking that out as an alternative, but I still need the wad manager for the HBC. If I have the wad manager, I might as well try to instal the channel from the file posted above and see if that works.

The latest postings in GBAtemp suggest that 3.4 is bad because it had removed the Trucha bug, but I already had the HBC so I don't know if that is the problem. other seem to have 3.4 working by removing the IOS249 (which I don't have!).

I've also checked out the V4 mod at Technoconsolas- seems fairly straightforward- so I may give that a try.

DeVS

I use Waninkoko's custom 4.0. I able to run the usb loader, Homebrew channel, and run "copied" Wiiware and VC games from the SD card with it.

Yes, I might do that or use WiiSCU, which some people says has advantages.....I just want to get it to work!

Thanks

Edit: I tried the alternative installer, but have the same "cannot load cIOS" error- looks like a down-grade then upgrade is on the cards!

Can someone point me to a tutorial and what is needed? I have 3.3u w/ wiikey 1.9s.

Thanks, i do not have time to look it up now as i have to head to work. and it is a pain to search for this kind of thing on the iphone. But if you post me a couple links, i can go right to it and read.

thanks.

Also, can you use the iso directly or what do you need to do? If not can you use a backed up dvd or one that was wiiscrubbed?

Guide here: http://modyawii.tehskeen.com/pages/usb_loader_wii.html

I have attached the cIOS36 rev9 and the USB loader 1.1 (installable wad channel version) too. Basically you just install the cIOS36 rev9 (move the cIOS36 rev 9 folder to your apps folder on your SD card, rename the cIOS36_rev9-Installer.dol in that folder to boot.dol, and run it from the Homebrew Channel), make sure you choose netowrk installation when installing cIOS rev9 and not wad installation, that way it will auto download all the files you need, then install the USB Loader 1.1 channel with wad manager and your done.

You can use iso files directly from your pc with this:

WBFS 2.0 w/ Gui Manager (allows you to added and remove Wii iso files on your pc to and from the usb hard drive)here:http://wiinewz.com/forums/nintendo-news/94954-wbfs-manager-2-0-a.html

If you use the WBFS or if you just pop a disc in your Wii and rip it with the USB Loader, it will WiiScrub your game automatically.

Thanks devs!

I will give this a go tomorrow morning when get home from work and I wake up.

Is the cios36 mess with the wii in any way? What does it do? Do u not want to upgrade the wii from nintendo anymore?

I will read the tutorial but it's a pain typing on iPhone is a pain so I thought I would ask them all at once.

Off note if u type devs on the iPhone, it tries to auto correct it with, deva! LOL!

Please tell me if you can get it to work with the 3.3 firmware- I've tried again with our 3.4 machine and still can't get it to accept the cIOS (though I don't know if the Trucha was blocked with 3.3).

Besides the Modyawii guide there is also one on the first page of the GBAtemp if you stand it! Thet also have a list of tested drives.

Thanks

DeVS

I don't know about any other firmware version other then Waninkoko's custom 4.0 cause thats what I use. I really don't see why you guys would not use it either as homebrew still works with it and you get the 4.0 perks like being able to store and launch your WiiWare and VC titles from SD card.

Thanks, but do you know if I can update to this from the official 3.4E rather than having to downgrade to the unofficial 3.2 before upgrading?

Otherwise, it's off to GBAtemp........

DeVS

You can go straight to Waninkoko's custom 4.0 from an offical 3.4E. I went from an official 3.4U.

just got it from the Waninkoko site, it is this correct "Firmware-Updater_4.0.dol"

just want to make sure i got the right file and install it with wad installer, correct (which version is the stable one to use)?

Then install the above stuff usb loader "stuff".

Edit: My homebrew channel has this info (is it up to date?)

about

HBC 1.0.1
IOCS36 v4.18

Wad manager 1.1
wad manager 1.21

should i be using wad manager 1.3?

DeVS

That is the right firmware file (don't forget to rename it boot.dol). Your Homebrew Channel is up to date. I use Wad manager 1.3.

Hey DeVS, just woke up and figuring out what i have to do and saw this in the tutorial that you need "IOS36-64-v1042.wad" original WAD file (for WAD installation). where do you get that at?

edit: still looking for it but it appears that it is needed if you do and "offline" install only.

DeVS

Ya only needed for offline install. Just move your D-Pad to the right and choose network install so that it will go out and download all the files you need.
