Guitar Hero World Tour Set - which IOS required?

I really need some help here.

I'm about to get the GHWT band set and I cannot for the life of me figure out what IOS I need for the microphone AND drum controller to work.  I have the guitar controller working just fine on 3.2U but I am worried that running this game and skipping the firmware update will get me nowhere with the other devices other than the guitar.

If anyone knows, I appreciate any help on this.  I've been searching the internet for answers for god who knows and I have not come up with one straight answer to this.  Please help.  :'(

read the posts on GBATEMP afaik you can get this working and will also work if you upgrade to 4.0 with  Waninkoko's 4.0 updater  :)

Most people update to 4.0 anyhow now as newer games require/and will require it :)

so long as you use the Waninkoko 4.0 updater you can still upgrade and downgrade whenever you feel like it  :)

Okay, I think I remember reading the posts on gbatemp although I will certainly try again.  The waninkoko 4.0 updater, I think, is not applicable since my Wii is 100% offline and I believe it requires you to update it via internet.  Also, I'm trying to avoid 4.0 at the moment since I have no real use for it as I do not have any stuff to run off the SD card, etc.

EDIT:
Seems that the posts on gbatemp suggest I can run the update off the GHWT disc and it should stay at 3.2U... hmm...

maby just ask them in that thread  :)

there are offline installers of the update programs that come with all the wads etc but don't ask me or for a link ;)

I suppose there is no harm in asking them directly.  Understandable that it is illegal to ask for a link so I'm not asking for one. :)  I'll try asking on gbatemp.

Are you running it off a dvd or through the iso loader? There really is no reason not to move to Wanninako's custom 4.0. All homebrew works and you will have all the ios file you need for every game that is out.

I am running games off DVDs and I don't think I've come across major issues from the current setup aside from having to check firmware and brickblock. :)  Iso loader is an awesome tool but I just do not have the facilities for that (e.g. external hard drive... 2funny) and am pretty satisfied running games off DVDs.
Plus, I read that 4.0 supposedly erases HBC.  I suppose it is possible to just grab all the IOS that the 4.0 firmware inserts... hmm...

Wanninako's custom 4.0 doesn't do anything to HBC, he took that stuff out of the official Nintendo 4.0 update. I SWEAR to you, im running it myself, Wanninako's custom 4.0 does nothing to hinder homebrew at all. Can still use HBC, can use bannerbomb, ect.

Hmm... if that is the case, it might be worth looking into, thank you very much.  I'll do some readings on this and see what I come up with.  At this point there should be a lot of guides floating online. :)

Edit:
Reading about the waninkoko 4.0 offline upgrade gives me the chills.  I've always been careful not to brick, but the longer this Wii has stayed with me, the more I don't attempt to do any of the new stuff.  I'll do a bit more reading and then likely decide one way or the other.  Also, the guide on gbatemp mentions to install preloader 0.29... isn't that the version with the April fool's joke?

did you hack with bootmii ?!

if its not installed  install it as boot2 and back up your nand and your good to go for any emergency!

even a fast downgrade after an upgrade :)

anton

No, I don't have bootmii.  I don't even know what that is.  :D ;D

Ah... I've been out of the loop for far too long...

wii soft modding for dummies link

all you really need to do is run the bootmii exploit from the sd card menu or HBC and install bootmii as you already have Homebrew Channel installed so maby do it through there :)

once you have bootmii installed to boot 2 then you can backup your Nand and install and downgrade and mess about as much as you like ..knowing in the event of a messup you can restore that Nand  :)

note only the Nand from the machine its from will work on that machine you cannot use any others!

jmr

i did not think i would update to 4.0 but when bootmii came out i upgraded to 3.2 done a nand backup then upgraded to 4.0 so i have the option to go back to 3.2 if i want & i might do a nand backup of 4.0 (just in case) :)

i think you only need Custom IOS38 rev 13b for usb devices to work in guitar hero

Big ups for the awesome posts and help guys! :)

I will checkout bootmii and see how that turns out.  As far as I understand, it'll likely be an app I can put in the apps folder for HBC and install it on boot2 from there.  I read that bootmii cannot be installed in newer Wiis but since mine is D2B, I think mine is okay. :)

EDIT:
The Wii soft modding guide here will upgrade the firmware to 4.0, right?  It seems like it from the sound of it.

On Custom IOS38 rev 13b for usb devices to work in guitar hero, I read on gbatemp that I also need the USB Loader, is this true?  I'll check out the teknoconsolas blog. :) --> Oh, the download link is down, but thanks for pointing where it should be. :)

You *may* need cIOS 222/223 to use microphone and other USB devices in the game. I installed these cIOS's because they allow the loading of House of the Dead 2, as well as some other games that normally do not work with the standard Waninkoko cIOS....but it is also said to be used for USB devices as well (although I wouldn't know since I do not have any of them yet!). I use USB Loader CFG to load my games now, and I can easily select between IOS249 (waninkoko cios) or IOS222 or IOS223 to load HOTD2 and the like. If you cannot get your USB device(s) working, you might as well install these as well.
