Has anyone gotten freethewads to work on Linux? I"m trying to use the GUI but it's not starting in Ubuntu with Wine. I'm wanting to use it to free up the Arkanoid NTSC-J release, since when I run it on my US console, it says something like this channel can't work.

So for you Linux users, what do you do with freethewads?

Thanks for any help.

Also...I'm having trouble with some cutscenes on Punchout!! cutting shot on NeoGamma and Softchip. Anyone know of a fix for that?
Setup:

Don't use the GUI i had problems with it even on windows it just didn't seem to work right?!

Solution was to just drag your WAD onto the freethewads.exe and let go (in windows it will open a DOS like window for about half a second then close) then its done just install the wad how you normally would on your wii :)

not sure it will work on or how it would work for linux?!

what version of NEOGAMMA loader are you using? latest is R6 over on GBATEMP works fine for me :)

Yeah, I'm using R6, and R99 for Softchip. Do some of the cutscenes cut short for you on Punchout!!? Even the GBAtemp wiki mentions this. It says to use the 002 fix, which I have done for both NeoGamma and Softchip. But some still cut short.

And thanks, I'll try dragging and dropping the .wad on the .exe in Linux and see what happens.

EDIT: Ok, dragging and dropping the .wad on the .exe doesn't do anything. But... I did put the .wad in the same folder as the .exe, and left clicked the .exe, and a little dos window popped up for a sec. So hopefully that did it.

EDIT AGAIN; Nope, still didn't work. I still get the error This Channel Cannot Be Used.

So...on Windows, is it ok that I put the Freethewads folder on my Desktop and drag the .wad on the .exe? Or does the Freethewads folder have to be put on the C: drive?

EDIT A LAST TIME: Ok, I got the .wad to work. If you have preloader installed, then all you have to do is Enable Region Free Channels. I did that and the wad booted right up. So I guess freethewads isn't needed anymore. :)

glad you got it sorted  ..some users still had issues with region free on preloader and freethewads fixed it !?

and I use it myself I don't have preloader so use freethewads works for me just dragging the wad onto the freethewads.exe a dos window opens and dissapears as above and its patched to region free and it just works from then on fine :)
