Big news people. An admin over at GBAtemp has received personal word from Supercard team that they are working on a new slot 1 flashcart based on the iPlayer hardware called the DSTWO. iPlayer of course, has internal hardware several times more powerful than the DS or DSi itself. The only problem is that it couldn't play commercial DS roms. This new one can, and brings epic new features into the mix. Here's the copy/pasta lowdown from the temp-

The Supercard team have today confirmed directly to GBAtemp.net that the development of the successor to the Supercard DSONE is now officially under way.

Their newest cart, unsurprisingly named the Supercard DSTWO, will be a mash up between the original DSONE and the hardware that was found in the iPlayer multimedia player. It will of course be DSi compatible, but will most likely not have 'i' in the title, but that is subject to change. That means you're going to have a cart on your hands that can play both Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance games without any additional hardware. There will also be a SNES emulator, but we have not yet had the chance to see this in action.

Alongside the built in emulators, the DSTWO will also boast a revamped real-time feature system, multi language options, slow motion and a file management system.

Here's the official feature list for the Supercard DSTWO:
QUOTE(Supercard Team)
1. RealTime Functions: RealTime Save, RealTime Game Guide(txt, bmp, jpg) & RealTime Cheat. (More stable, more easy to use, cheat code compatible with R4 and TT now)
2. Multi Saves (Up to 4 slot), Easy to backup and restore saves.
4. Unlimited MicroSD storage space support. SDHC support. FAT or FAT32.
5. Multiple languages (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Spanish)
6. Built-in GBA/SNES Emulator.
7. Action Slow Motion (4 levels,).
8. File Management System (Copy, Paste, Cut and Delete, long file name support).
9. eBook (BMP, JPEG, JPG, PNG, TIF, GIF, TXT, PDF).

Stay tuned to GBAtemp for further updates, including pictures and videos in the next couple of days and weeks.

It's official- this is the best new card. I admit they have truly gone above and beyond the call of duty. BTW, apparently the iPlayer was a supercard product anyways. Guess that is fitting. This is awesome. *puts on Christmas list&*

If the SDK is open to anyone I'm in. If not, I don't care. I don't want to have to rely exclusively on their built-in emulators and whatever else they feel like coding.

Well remember that the iPlayer was apparently open source. It was made by SC team, and a GBA emulator was made for it. It may even be the same emulator.

Considering this thing plays normal DS roms and has almost every improvement fans begged for, it would be worth it anyways. Add in the new hardware, and i'm sold.

Very interesting indeed.  Almost too good to be true.  I didn't buy iPlayer but if this new DSTWO comes with all of the features listed, and doesn't cost too much, then I'm sold on buying yet another slot1 Supercard.  Hats off to the Supercard team if they get this working.

I hope they do too, and it wouldn't be very hard to do either. But there are already real time features in DSONE. There are real time cheats, saving, and even a game guide. They aren't implemented in the best way though. I assume they will be far improved for the DSTWO.

And I hope they will keep using (and updating) files like ndspatch for DSONE & DSTWO.
They actualy have stopped updating this file, letting many new games unplayable for SC,
when official firm/patch updates are available for other cards; a pity !.

I hope that DSTWO will not announce the end of the DSONE.

no such luck..... quote taken from chinese SC site (translated with google)

QuoteFor the recently published DSTWO news, DSONE users do not need worry. DSONE/i and DSTWO are taking a different route, the price difference is relatively large.

That's the problem, I doubt they'll spend as much time to update DSONE for peanuts...
DSTWO customers will probably be high priority if the product is more expensive.
Official NDSPATCH and OS updates already seem to become low priority for them.   :-\

Great. It's a good news !  :)
Now just wait for DSTWO's patch mode to be adapted for DSONE (for remaining rom problems).

BTW: Is there somewhere a "clean rom" official compatibility list for DSONE.
Or a ndsinfo file containing not only savesize, but the options to use for each clean rom, for a true automatic patch mode ?
-> Perhaps a suggestion for DSTWO...  ;)

I wouldn't worry about the loss of support for the older models: SuperCard has always done right by its customers, and to this day you can still use SuperCard CF and SD.

At least, I think so? I haven't actually checked in a long time.
