I have a DS phat that has a broken hinge.  When I turn it on the buttom screen works but the top screen is all white.  If I remove the whole top screen can I use my DS phat as a gba?

i had a phat with a ripped ribbon cable to the top screen & i removed the top half because i thought i could use it for gba but it would not boot up but when i reattached the top screen it would boot up again
so i think you have to have the top screen attached for it to start up

but give it a go i might have done something wrong with mine when i took it apart

Ehh I don't think I will use the risk to brake it completely.  Also do you know why the screen is all white on the top?  The sound still works when I turn it on.

if you have a broken hinge.... you probably have a torn ribbon cable as it runs threw the hinge
