What is JailBreaking?

Jailbreaking is a LEGAL process that allows iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch users to run third-party unsigned code on their devices by unlocking the operating system and allowing the user root access. Once jailbroken, iPhone users are able to download many extensions and themes previously unavailable through the App Store via unofficial installers such as Cydia and Rock Your Phone. A jailbroken iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch is still able to use the App Store and iTunes.

With a jailbroken iPhone, iPad, or iPod you are able to install and use cracked apps from the app store (ie: free games, and apps) as well as homebrew such as emulators (snes,N64, GBA,ect). There is even a version of flash that now runs on jailbroken iOS devices.

What's Jailbreak 2.0?

Jailbreak 2.0 is a jailbreak method created by Comex, the famed iOS hacker who previously brought us the Spirit jailbreak. It is an untethered jailbreak and is done by going to his web address and downloading a .pdf file that has the jailbreak payload in it. No need to connect the iDevice to a pc, its all done over wifi, 3G, or edge.

Requirements

Any iPhone or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0 or 4.0.1
Any iPad on firmware 3.2 or 3.2.1
An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Syncing with iTunes before trying this is highly recommended.


How To Use Jailbreak 2.0

Using Jailbreak 2.0 is very simple. First make sure you have backed up your iDevice in iTunes. Then simply open the safari browser on your iDevice and go to http://jailbreakme.com or http://jailbreakme.modmyi.com/ From there you will see at the bottom of the screen where it says "Slide to Jailbreak"



Just slide the slider and the jailbreak will begin. You will get a box that says its downloading the jailbreak and then a box saying it is jailbreaking. Once it is done you will see the Cydia icon on your home screen. All done!

My iDevice Is JailBroke, Now What?
After your iDevice has rebooted you will see a new icon on your iDevice called Cydia. <--(cydia icon) Now the fun begins!

Cydia is is a software application for iOS that lets a user browse and download applications for a jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Cydia provides a more user-friendly graphical user interface for some open-source software-installation tools originally developed for Debian (specifically APT, and the dpkg package management system). Cydia's repositories allow the installation of software packages, most of which are available to download at no cost. Cydia also includes the Cydia Store, which offers a number of applications for sale. Both free and paid software packages are downloaded directly to an iOS device, to the same location as Apple's pre-installed applications

After you have Cydia on your jailbroken device you will want to install 2 things that will allow you install cracked apps and games onto your iDevice, Appsync and Installous.  Appsync allows you to install, run, and sync cracked apps on your iDevice. Installous is basically a version of the app store but all the apps and games in it are cracked free versions.

Installing Installous and Appsync

You will install Installous through cydia. Before you can install it though you will need to add a new source in cydia so that cydia knows where to go and fetch these programs. So first start cydia. Then at the bottom push on "Manage" then "Sources" and then at the top right push on "edit" now on the top left you will see "Add", push add then type in Cydia.hackulo.us and lastly push "add source". You will get a warning, but just click "add anyway".Once you have done this cydia will refresh its list of sources and you are set. First we will install Installous. Just do a search for Installous at the bottom of Cydia. The new Installous will automatically install the proper version of Appsync for your iDevice as it is installing Installous. Thats it, your all set and ready for the goodies.

Installous
Once you have installed installous you will see its icon on your iDevice <--- (Installous icon). Installous is like the app store though all the apps are cracked and free. Once you click on the installous icon you will see categories such as All Apps, Games, Books, Education, Entertainment,ect. Once you click on a category you will see all the different apps available for download. Most of these download links are for online hosting sites such as 2shared, megaupload, filedude,ect. Just click on one of these and Installous will download and install the cracked app for you. Installous will also now notify you when your cracked apps have an update so you can keep them updated with the newest versions just like the official AppStore.

BACKUP your iDevice before jailbreaking so that you have a backup in case something goes wrong during the jailbreak.
