This guide will teach you how to ssh (or ftp) into your iOS Device (iPones, iPads, iPods). You need to learn how to do this when you want to put roms on your iOS Device or some apps like Frash (the iPad version of Flash). Your device MUST be jailbroken. You need to be extremely careful when messing with ssh as you can do into your iOS Device and totally screw it up if you don't know what your doing in there. As always back up your iOS Device encase you do mess something up.

You can get WinSCP (the windows ftp program you use to ssh into your iOS Device) here: http://winscp.net/eng/index.php

One thing to note is that this isn't the only way to transfer files between your computer and the real root filesystem of your iDevice.  There are a number of programs (most for Windows) that will let you do the same thing when hooked up to your computer with the USB cable.  My personal favorite is "iPhone Folders" which adds another drive to My Computer and runs exactly like any other network drive.  I've found it much more convenient than iPhone Explorer or anything similar.

With most recent jailbreaks though, you'll need to install "afc2add" in Cydia for these programs to see the full root filesystem.  Without it, you'll only have access to \var\mobile\media which is the "sandboxed" root of the device.
