Hi there.

Is it possible for NDSs without flashme to be bricked say...for using homebrews or roms with passme or superpass?

wgz4life

Yes, any DS can be Brick,  If you have Flashme installed you can Recover.

anyone knows or can confirm, that if your DS get brick, your Supercard gets erased

Yes. That's why it's HEAVILY recommended you to use flashme if you are running any sort of homebrew. This is because flashme installs a fail safe in a part of the firmware that's protected by the SL-1 contact. If you don't have flashme installed and your DS gets bricked, your DS will be unrecoverable unless you want to do a lot of soldering on the back of your DS.

(edit) didn't see the other person post.

If your DS is bricked through the original bricker passed around, yes it will (at least versions 1.52 and before. Not sure if it erases 1.53's as well). If it's bricked through something like Mario Kart DS, then no.

Thanks a lot.

I only tought tha the DSs firmware were, originally, under the protection of the Sl-1 contact, that's why you needed to close the contact to imprint anything onto the DSs firmware. So I concluded that if you haven't broken this protection by flashing your console, you shouldan't worry for using just passme.

there is to kind os brick methods..

1st > DSBRIKER

its a Torjan ( not a virus ) thats bircks any DS , and some flashcards ( like gbamp and supercard )

2st > Mario Kart DS ( Or any other wifi conection game )

theses games save the wifi setting in spaces originaly empty on DS.. but olders flashme version ( 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ) fills that spaces.. and when you run one of theses games you ds get briker but you can easily recover it..

you probably heard about the second method..

its easy to solve.. just install flahsme v5 ... its very ease..

and flashme, as said above.. protect ds from the first method!

What the SL-1 contact does is protect the first 64kb of the firmware and only the first 64kb. To what purposes, I'm not sure anyone has conclusively figured out. If anyone knows, it'd probably be loopy.

When you install flashme, it installs a backup code in that first 64kb (which is the primary reason why you need to bridge that contact)

Guess Im gonna get my DS flashed. Do I have to patch the flashme.nds file via Supercard's patching software or do I only copy the file the way it is into the flash card?

Koji

Just copy it to your flash and run it straight like that.

Already did it, thanks. It all went fine.

I got the flashme_stealth.nds here: http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/

So it must be the newer version (v5), isn't?
