Hi,

I just wanted to say "Hi" and that I just got a supercard from chipdealer.com and a 512 CF (from wallyworld).

I put about 600 nes roms, 400 GB roms and 500+ SMS/GG roms on it and it's like owning a piece of old school HEAVEN.  :D  (better than a PSP right now, imo.... unless they have SNES emulation eventually)

I just wish PCE emulation was a little better.. oh well.

And I wish pocketnes could shrink the NES image proportionately instead of squishing it horizontally making some text unreadable.  Otherwise it's perfect!

Cheers!

I also joined the forums tonight!
Your discussions have brought me to the light side of flash carts(EFA=darkside) so I will be joining your gaming community as soon as mine ships!

Yeah, who will have SNES emulation first/ NDS or PSP?

What's evil about the EZFA?  I have heard mostly good things about it...

Also, I think that the DS will probably have SNES emulation first.  It really is the holy grail of portable emulation.  Best system ever IMHO.

The reason I say this is because a good bit of PocketSNES could be ported to the DS due to the similar ARM CPUs being used.  The big problem will be the sound.  The SPC700 sound chip on the SNES is always the stumbling block with performance on SNES emulators.  The main question will be if the DS has enough power to run an SNES ROM full speed with sound.

Another thing to consider is that the PS2 has been around forever, yet the only SNES emulator for it is in a pretty poor state right now, and it's due to...  you guessed it - sound.  The sounds bogs the gameplay pretty bad.  I know the PSP is in the ballpark of PS2 power (maybe a bit less) and I think the architecture is similar, so the difficulties in making an SNES emulator for the PS2 may also happen with the PSP.  This is all speculation though.  I could be completely wrong.

I agree:  the DS will have SNES emulation before the PSP.

The PSP hardware and architecture are entirely new, while the DS is only improved.  People already know what the DS is capable of, just not how much it's capable of.
