I was wondering where it went, I don't have it yet but does it just plug into a usb port? or does it use up a different port?

If you're getting an external, it'll more than likely use the USB (though some use Firewire).  If you're getting an internal, you probably need to find your USB controller (as that is how most readers connect) on your mobo and connect it there (assuming, of course, your mobo allows for such upgrades).

Neither kicktrading nor hopebuy list what type of connection the reader uses, but dollars to donuts it's an external USB connection.

Yeah, I'd lay odds it's USB as well.  It's obviously external, and they want to have the highest compatibility for their consumers, so USB is the most likely choice.
