Hey there Ive got my super card today and ive tried everything to get games to work, my cf card is formatted to FAT and i have all the latest updates so thats not the problem, most games start up but ALL (even the ones on the working list) crash after a minute or so, ive tried each rom with every option on the supercard software convertor and still they crash, ive tried unzipping the files first then converting but still they dont work, what am I doing wrong?? I really want this card to work, oh and I bought 2 supercards and the same thing happens on both.

Please help.

Maybe your ROMs are corrupted.  Try verifying them with GBA-Renamer.

erhgiez

maybe thats what i thought, i got my roms from a ROM site and also some of them off the xbox GBA emulator disc with roms 0001-0800

where can i find GBARenamer?

Diablo:  Sorry, no links to ROM sites please.

Diablo

GBA-Renamer

Also, did you format the CF in Windows (or your OS), or on another device like a digital camera?  If you did the latter, then that is your problem.

I originally used the cf card with my gba movie advance and it worked fine, i have reformatted it to FAT to see if that would change it but it didnt, does it matter if you open the roms as zips or just as .gba, and does it make a difference if the converted files are in the root directory of the cf card or is it best to put them in a folder, i have done both and it doesnt seem to make much difference

Diablo

The folder, to my knowledge and in my experience, doesn't matter (I mostly play my ROMs from folders, but have put numerous in the root directory to play-test).  It's also better to run .gba files instead of a compressed version, as you'll have better performance, and be less apt to errors or problems.

Have you tested your ROMs to see if they're corrupt or overdumped yet?

Ive used the GBA Renamer and it said that it recognised the roms, i used rom 0051 - rayman advance to test as this was said to be working, it loads up fine no problems then about 30 sec into the first level it freezes and the sounds start looping and messing up.

NT

Are you using the same CF card with both Supercards?

Diablo

Try out GoodGBA.  I prefer it, as it identifies your ROM as verified, overdumped, alternate version, et cetera.

Use GoodGUI to run it easily.

Yes I am, i have a smaller 32mb one ill give em a shot on that.

erhgiez

There seems to be no problems when i use the smaller cf card, o well ill just have to keep the 1gb one for movies and buy a smaller one for games.

Thanks alot for all your help

erhgiez

Do any of you know if its possible to fix a cf card, or rebuild it, because my 1gb card works fine with everything else, but just not with my super card so i know its not broken, what could be wrong with it??

Diablo

If it works with everything else, then why do you want to rebuild it?

And you formatted the card using your OS (Windows/Linux)?  What is the difference between the smaller and larger cards (how they are/were formatted, what you used each with, what is on the cards, et cetera)?  What is the namebrand and model of the card that is not working? Perhaps it is one that is incompatible with the Supercard?

Both are san disk, one is 1gb the other is 32mb, the only thing ive used my 1gb card for is my movie advance, the 32mb card was in a digital camera, i just thought you could do more to a cf card then reformat it like rearrage the cells that store the data.

Diablo

Are they the normal SanDisk, or the Ultra II?

You can change the cluster size, yes, but as long as it is set to default when you formatted, you should be fine.

If you want to try altering them anyway, refer to Method 2 in this topic, and change the "Allocation unit size" to 512.
