I thought cards above 2gb didnt work due to the limitations of the FAT file system

i dont know... but what about the fat16 limitations?

QuoteAT16: The FAT used for most older systems, and for small partitions on modern systems, uses a 16-bit binary number to hold cluster numbers. When you see someone refer to a "FAT" volume generically, they are usually referring to FAT16, because it is the de facto standard for hard disks, even with FAT32 now more popular than FAT16. A volume using FAT16 can hold a maximum of 65,526 clusters, which is 2^16 less a few values (again for reserved values in the FAT). FAT16 is used for hard disk volumes ranging in size from 16 MB to 2,048 MB. VFAT is a variant of FAT16.

The maximum card size supported currently is 2GB. You could in theory support more if there was a way to support partitioned cards, or if they added FAT32 support.

I wonder how hard it would be to add FAT32 support to SC? I reckon it wouldnt be that different

haha! So I assume you're spearheading the project?

Dudu.exe

weel tell about this 2gb limitation to my 10 gb Harddriver from my old pc!

Actually, the FAT16 partition size limit is 4GB. True, in DOS and Win 3.1/95/98/ME you can only create 2GB FAT16 partitions. In Win NT, 2000, and XP it is possible to create 4GB FAT16 partitions, of course requiring the use of 64kb clusters. It is non-standard, but indeed supported.

Just my techie self coming out :)

so it will work at least 2G of it

As far as I know.
I'd be surprised if the Supercard supported the kind of Fat16 that the NT OS supports.

I think the general opinion is that the Supercard only supports up tp 2 Gig.

Maybe you could test it?  Or were you thinking of buying a 4Gig card?

I think I know why you believe that.

What OS are you using?  Is it XP?

When you format your hard disk, as you probably know it gives you the option of FAT or NTFS.  When you choose FAT and your partition size is greater than 2 Gig, the drive is formatted with FAT32.

Apologies for geeking out on you Dudu, I just thought it might be handy to know :)
