Thanks Koji, much appreciated for a very handy tutorial. I converted it to pdf for quick offline reference :)

Nintendo Wii - cIOS38 Revision 12 (and more)
Madden PSP Slim v5.00 M33-6

For people getting the error, that is almost certainly my fault for uploading a bad file (can't figure out what's wrong) use the original dpgencode software, not the modified one I have listed then you just have to apply a NDS loader as the final step.

sucks that it only plays the movie for like 6mins, i hope the next release is going to be alot better

Something that reads off the card like Moonshell would be totally awesome.

This program is by the same person who made moonshell... which means it'll probably be in the next version or two of moonshell.

Though honestly, it won't matter too much till he creates controls (pause, rewind, fast forward, etc) and make it so movies don't lock up every 6 minutes or so.

if only plays ok .. its fine to me =p

without a pause function, you have to restart each 6 minute section if there's an interruption (phone... etc..)

I am very happy about the app though.. heh.. it's kind of funny that suddenly i'm dusting off all my mpeg1 tools..  been a long time since i used mpeg1

use VBR instead of CBR, it has a better quality with a smaller file size ;) and it works like a charm (256x192, 8fps ans 0->320kb/s for VBR settings, and outputs 36MB for a 23min anime video)

monk456l

wouldnt that size be a little too big(36MB), or does converting it to .nds get the size smaller for you?

Koji

I too am curious how you got your video even at VBR and 8fps at less then 128kbps and manage to find it good for anime at 256x192.

I just tried with the last bleach episode (61).

in tmpgenc i set qvbr with the settings i said in my previous post, audio at 32k/mono/64kbs and so on.

The quality is near perfect, and the subtitles are easily readable. The 8fps thing is not very noticable, even on action scene, it seems to be perfectly suited for anime :)

I got a 36MB file after conversion to .nds file, it loads without problems on my SCSD (even if i know the limit of 32MB..) but it hangs usual around 6min, always at the same point (i tried with other movies, the same with the 6min thing)

so VBR is the best choice imho as i have nearly the same quality as 320kbs for an average bitrate of about 130 (roughtly, not calculated)

Good news.  Although I can't read what it actually says, I see the words MoonShell, Mpeg, and Seekable in the same area at the top of the website.
