I can't believe I found one in my area, but I am really glad I did. I don't think I am going to open the box for awhile (maybe years...if ever) as I am sure this will be a very big collectors item. Anyone else going to purchase it? Or have purchased it already?

no.. i'm waiting till they release one (or at least a faceplate) that looks like the US NES controller.. grey and black with red buttons (obviously a faceplate cant' replace buttons, so i hope they make an entirely new micro for this)

Don't think this is going to happen. The entire line of Micro units are limited edition btw, and production will stop sometime in the coming year...so, no NES version for us :(

so even my normal 'silver' micro is 'limited'?

I don't think nintendo systems will ever be too collectible... at least not for a very very very long time.

See, nintendo is doing the same thing that the comic book industry did 10 years or so ago. That is, they release tons of "special editions" of their systems lately. You saw how well that worked...

Though I guess nintendo has the advantage of the systems actually doing something where as comic books just looked nice.

If you check the Nintendo Micro website, you'll see it says "get it while it lasts". I would only assume that this means the Micro will not be in production for too long. They didn;t upgrade the SP with a brighter screen for nothing. The SP will continue to be the unit sold up until the GBA 2. The Micro really is not selling all too well, and Nintendo knew that would be the case. It is really for the tech savvy people that wanted a slick miniature gaming device. I think it is the best portable unit (in terms of portability and screen quality) to date myself.

This all boils down to this. If you want one, buy it now....unless you like buying used systems on ebay :)
