I have a GBA SP.  I have the SC with and SD card.  I have yet to get the save state to work.  It always just hangs and says "please wait" but it never unfreezes.

my SD card is 512MB.  I only have about 12 games on it.

I have set all the settings to save, reset etc.  but it always just hangs.

Diagnostics seemed ok as well.

Any tips appreciated.
