I am having some problems getting a.gba rom to run is Visualboy Advance. I build the rom menu with nes2gba or thingy menu tools, but when I open the file with vba the gba bios loads with a distorted block of pixels under the gameboy logo and then nothing. any ideas?

PocketNES doesn't work well in VBA. It works much better on actual hardware. If you want to play NES games on your PC, just use an NES emulator, like NESticle or FCE Ultra.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.
