Quote from: "Neptune"I don't understand what the point of it is...? You can just hold select on boot up to disable the FlashMe function

Well, you can also just hold A+B+X+Y with one of your thumb, it is no harder than pressing SELECT, but still both Cory and SUPERCARD's programmers think some people like to have it auto boot to DS mode.:)

It is not that important but nice to have a choice in this matter so people who like auto boot to DS can be happy and people who don't can be happy too, thanks to Cory.

pg65

I play the NDS more then GBA so to have it boot to NDS menu is a big plus for me :D
Supercard SD, Sandisk 2 GB, AData  256 MB
Supercard One - 512MB Transcend
Pink DSL with flashme v8a Org-FW  haven't checked

Dudu.exe

But lot of peoples like to boot a DS cart... its realy good to have choise

Koji

I don't prefer auto booting... just personal preference.

Yoko99

I like the "secret combination" like thing :)

My sister picked it up the other day and never got to see the games in the menu cos she did'nt know to press any buttons, lol

Anyhow, it really does'nt matter, but I'm just used to it.
I still open my DS with the reflex of pressing those 4.

You do have a choice, put the DS cart in the DS slot and hold SELECT while booting the DS, it'll boot ...I am STILL failing to see the point of this patch, please don't think I am bashing on anyone, I just don't get it... heh

It took me about a week to remember to not hold ABXY after I started playing Animal Crossing.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

So I guess you probably also don't see the point of the new firmware making it autoboot to DS mode. After all, you did have a choice of booting it to DS mode by hold A+B+X+Y with older firmware.:)

It is really a minor thing. Depend on if you play games from SC  more often or from original DS cart, one way is slightly easier than the other. For someone who play original DS cart more often, then the old way is slightly better. For someone who play from SC more often, the new firmware's autoboot to DS mode is slightly better.

Now if Cory didn't create the unpatcher, then I guess we'll probably just live with the new autoboot thing since it is not a big deal.

Or you just pull out the freaking Supercard when you're not using it!

Since SC cart is not as resistant as original GBA carts, it's better to reduce putting it in/out.
I had a GBA flashcart break in pieces that way, and SC fit tight in NDS.
For that I too still prefer old X+Y+A+B technique...

I'm too lazy to press SELECT when I want to play my original DS cart and you ask me to pull out the Supercard which is even more troublesome.;)

Other than that, the same reason as Keroro and that I use my DS outside my house a lot and if I pull out the Supercard, I have to put it somewhere and probably risk losing it. Keeping the Supercard in the DS is a lot better since I lower the risk of losing it and also work as dust cover for the GBA slot.

I personally prefer the new method, but still, it is really nice that we have an option thanks to cory.

Select = 1 button.
ABXY = 4 buttons.

Select is obviously easier.. you can't despute that it isn't easier... if you wanted to perform a scientific study it would clearly show a great deal more muscle activity involved in getting all 4 of those buttons pushed down, especially for people with smaller fingers.

I think A) Romman should have offered an option between two...
and that B.) if he didn't it should be how it is now.. most people who pay $60 for a Supercard, are going to be using the Supercard over the DS cart, most of the time.  Especially since, they could run the same cart from the DS card.

It's simple logic, if a majorityof users of your product use it in X way a majority of the time, then the default behavior should support that usage.  The exceptional behavior should be left to the minority.

But anyway it goes, I think Cory is very good for releasing the unpatcher for those who insist on using complex button combinations.

I really like it autobooting, to me having to hit the power button is more than I'de like for booting.. I see my NDS being a PDA that can play some great games as well, some day.  And I would like it if it would not only autoboot the hardware that lets it do that, but boot straight to the OS I expect, and would be even happier if it did this as soon as I opened the lid (^_^)

If you like to press ABXY then you should thank cory for the unpatcher

If you like not having to press ABXY, you should thank cory for his patcher, as that is IMO 90% likely to be the reason romman made the official hardware autoboot.

You're probably right, in theory pressing A+B+X+Y is harder than just pressing SELECT, but I just hold my thumb on all four buttons at the same time so it is not any harder than pressing SELECT. A+B+X+Y is easy, the one I hate most is the key combination to save gba games. L+R+SELECT+A is hard to do with a DS.

But that isn't what make me like the old way better, it is more about how often I have to do something special to boot it up daily. For me since I rarely play games on the SC, then I love the old way, but maybe in future I play games on SC more often then I'll prefer auto DS mode.

Nphinity

Victoria, why not just put the games you wanna play on your SC card, along with any homebrew... then you wont ever need to boot off the normal DS cart.
