I'm tring to format CF that I took from Canon Degital Camera, But I'm getting Write Protect Error and can't format. How can I disable write protect. Thank you

Diablo

Wow, I've never heard of write protection on a CF card before. :o

Like other flash media with write protection, there is probably a switch somewhere on the card itself.  Flip it, and you should be able to write to your card.

If you can't find a switch on your CF, try a forced dismount of the drive while formatting (add the /X switch at the end of your format command).

I tried with force format, but without success.
Actually I have 2 CF one came with my canon elphs230 and another one is lexar 512mb. Both of them I formated with camera once. After that I can't format with PC. By the way there is any switch on CF.
Somebody Please help.

Is there a write protection switch on your card reader, then?

What is the model of the CF card and reader?  Are there any files on the CF?  If so, can you delete them?  Can you still format the CF in your digital camera?
