I upgraded a friends DS to flashme version 6, now when playing games the bottom screen is white! Even with original games. He is still on version 1.53 of the firmware. If i upgrade to 1.54 will this cure the problem? Do i need to downgrade the flashme to v5 first? if i do downgrade do i need to short the SL1 again?

He has the supercard SD version, if this make any difference!

Please help!!!!

try this:
- doing the config in the ds's main menu
- run flasme V6 again so it re-writes the unprotected part
(make sure you get it off the official site, of course)

Never heard of a DS going flakey like that after flashme, either its interruped and the DS doesnt work (you turn it on and both screens stay off) or it works.

you didnt by chance stick stuff into the wrong two holes, did you? (just have to ask, because this could happen if one of the POT's under those two holes got damaged or bridged by stray metal...)

No, i upgraded from V5 so no shorting of the circiut was required, I did the same to my sons and mine and we have had no problem. The only difference with my friends is that he has formware 1.53 and we have 1.54. I will install 1.54 on his and see if that makes a difference.

still, try running the flashme again to rewrite the unprotected area if that doesnt work for you...

but upgrade from 5 to 6 do not need to short sl1, are you sure you installed version 6?

That depends on the version of your original firmware, it seems. FWv2 didn't need a short but FWv3 did.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Or you could hunt down someone who has version v5... or you could use unflashme (make sure it installs 100%) then reinstall flashme v6 or so.

This brings me back to a point though... if it's not broke don't fix it. If you aren't having problems with an old version, and the new version doesn't add any compatibility or fix any problems you have... don't bother with it in the future.
