i used to have this great space themed nes game.
you flew around the screen in a spaceship and the main objective was to collect stuff. you had to avoid the landscape as it made your ship explode and made you the pilot come out.
then you had to fly about by jet pack.

i am sorry this is so vague but it is all i can remember. i used to love this game, i cant beleive i forgot the name.

i think you got to upgrade your ship between levels too...

any ideas?

It sounds like the game you're thinking of is actually Air Fortress.
But if you've found it I might be wrong.
