Hello everybody, here is
NDSCRC
my new software to sort, check, rename your NDS rom archives (knows only about Zip files).
It can sort file ins different directories, manage dupes, unknown archives, display and write miss/have list with CRC.
It can rename .NDS files within the zip files, delete zip comment, keep only the .nds files, remove unnecessery directories.
It can create SVF files.
All features can be selected by the user.

The romList is based onto http://www.retrocovers.com/advanscene/
release list, which is updated often and easy to use.

Any comment, question, feature request is welcome.

ATTENTION : keep in mind it's beta state software, If I were you, I would only run on a copy of your archives. It could ( but shouldn't ) corrupt an archive.

Source ( in delphi 7 ) available on request.

I'd just like to say that I've been beta testing this and had no problems with this latest version. Its a great replacement for Nintenren and has an open dat format - what more could you want!

Thanks for your work on this!

Nice! Seems to work great on this end, and a nice little alternative to Offlinelist. How do you ADD roms however? Maybe I missed it when I tested it, but seems I didn't see an add rom function. Perhaps you can make it so that it will rebuild by scanning an entire dir/sub-dirs....like clrmame does.

You can't add rom so far, the rom list is only based onto Advanscene release list, which is up-to-date. The only good roms advanscene lacks is the wifi demos. If somebody really needs a personnal list, I may add this feature, but didn't felt a need for it so far.

The main app could be easily ported to linux ( using kylix ), but the component I use to handle zip files ( zipforge ) doesn't exist for linux, and that would be a major problem. But if anybody want to try, feel free to ask me for the Delphi source code of the project.

I think you misunderstood. I don't mean to add a rom that is not on the Advancescene list, but rather add roms that ARE on the list. For example, if I am missing say, release 162 (Electroplankton) and I have a few zips of downloaded roms in a directory, I would be able to scan that directory and the program would pick up the said romfile if it is there, and rename and copy (or move) it to my verified roms folder. This is the basic operation of most renamers. Look at the "add rom" option in Offlinelist, or the "Rebuilder" funtion of Clrmame Pro to get the idea.

I've always used Clrmame for rom related stuff, it's really excellent. Works with most consoles system roms, and the dat files are fairly easy to get hold of.

//www.clrmame.com

and the dat file for DS and GBA

Once scanned, any missing roms can be dragged onto the results window and they will be checked as well :)

I was using clrmame for this for some time, but recently migrated over to Offlinelist for my NDS and GBA romfiles. I still use clrmame religiously for Mame and many other datfiles, and know the program inside out (been using it for YEARS) but Offlinelist just works better for new NDS releases. It downloads the latest dats with one simple update from inside the program (as does the new one listed in this thread), and can easy add roms. One great feature of Offlinelist is that the names can be adjusted just about any way you wish. You really can't do that with clrmame, as it looks at the one set of names in the dat, and names the roms that way. You would have to download multiple dats to get unnumbered and numbered names that way. With Offlinelist, it is just a simple switch in the options.

Oh yes I did misunderstand you, sorry.
Just drop your new roms in the "unknown archives" path or in the "rom" path, if they are recognized, they will be moved to the right place, if not they will be moved to unknown, which will be scanned on the next update.

Oh, Ok. Nice! Not bad at all. All it really needs now is some renaming options (since the xml has all of this included) and perhaps a an option to detail check the integrity of the zipfiles...and then GBA support of course :)

EDIT: After playing with the program abit more, I have come to the conclusion that this DEFINITELY surpasses Nintenren (if even for the open dat) and nearly surpasses Offlinelist in some ways.

The program is simple, and this is a great thing. It is a no-nonsense renamer, needs no installation, and works as it should. I would personally say aside from useful options (like the two I stated earlier), just keep it simple. That is a big selling point for this app most definitely.

Needless to say, I will now be using this app exclusively for my renaming needs. Aside from not having all of the renaming switches I would like, the program does a really fantastic job. Very nice work!

ADVANsCEne has been kind enough to host a sub-forum deticated to NDSCRC.
Please post your question/feature request there for now.
