I only really got into consoles later in life... my first console was a N64... since then I have has PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, XBox... handheld-wise I own a PSP, but the DS is the first Nintendo handheld I have owned!!

I do like to play with my toys, but my missus thinks i may be getting a bit too old for this kind of stuff.  truth is I love anything like this.  I still have such odd things as a LaserDisc player with loads of films, cards and roms that go in all sorts of weird machines from days gone by and boxes full of crap that really should go in the bin - or at least on ebay!  When i pop my clogs I wonder if my three kids will look at my vast colection of crap and get the same pleasure I get out of the stuff or will they be chucking it all on 'flog-it' to make enough money for a new cat litter tray or other 'ever so useful' item?

Phew!  I thought I was going to win until mclout99 posted.  I'm 32 and I've been playing since the Atari 2600 days, though my parents refused to get me one.  So whenever I went over my friends' houses who had one, I always wanted to play!  First computer was a Commodore Vic 20, followed by an Atari 400, the one with the awful membrane keyboard.  First console was Vectrex (which was absolutely awesome and still is)!  So I guess that means I've been playing constantly for a good 26 or 27 years!

suddenly my looming 20th birthday doesn't seem quite as bad :P

I've been gaming since the megadrive. My first go on a game was sonic the hedgehog 2 for the master system, which my friend next door recieved for christmas. The megadrive is where all my gaming memories lie though. Best game I ever got was wonderboy in monsterworld. A crappy store called what everyone wants used to sell megadrive games. Not the latest titles, but cheap, obscure ones. They had hundreds of some isometric pacman game, and I was originally gonna pick that one, then i sighted wonderboy... I still love that game to this day. I've completed it around 9 times.

[begin Cranky Kong, Dana Carvey persona] You've got to be kidding me.  In my day, if someone mentioned a "megadrive," that would just refer to any drive because they were all mega...in physical size that is, and we liked it!  And in my day, there was no such thing as Sega.  What is that?  Some whipper snapper mispellin' saga?  Not sure what that is.  Any way, it was all black and white or 8 colors and we liked it![end Cranky Kong, Dana Carvey persona]

I am getting old...
