A virtual network computing (VNC) program for the DS.

Requirements: Wireless home network (like a wirelss router)

Basically you run the server.exe program on your computer, and hook to your AP with the DS app, and you get an image of your computer screen on the bottom screen.

B zooms out, you can tap on the screen and then press A to zoom in on where you tapped. When zoomed in, tapping is a mouse click, and pressing Select opens a keyboard for typing (the \ key is enter).

Operates in low bit color so color distortion is evident, and it's very very sloppy, so server.exe may freeze, just restart the program.

Says it works through the internet (just type the non local IP) however you shouldn't due to UDP packet loss. I find it works great, been controlling my computer with it extensively. Check those IM's without getting out of bed. We're on our way people ;)

(NOTE: Remember to use the .ds.gba file and rename it!)

EDIT: I forgot, this doesn't have a .gba version, you need to append the loader. Buuuut, I guess I could be nice and attach it here for those that want it.

ALSO: Remember, WEP DOESN'T work, so make sure you don't have WEP when trying this.

wow. thanks for the quick response, i allways forget about the loader thing, thx anyway, hehe but now i have another problems it seems, can't get it to conect to the AP, but that's defnetly something to o with the AP, if anyone has a d-link 624 and can help please do.

edit:nevermind, it worked now, it was the wep key hehe, was messing around with a number of advanced settings and forgot the obvious......

edit2:wow, absolutely brilliant it just refreshes the screen when i zoom in/out though.

a well, if he had included the source code for the server app i could make it a backgroud process hehe, would've been fun to mess around while my brother was at the computer.

I can't wait to try this when it supports WEP ... Is there a particular reason WEP support isn't working on all these apps?  I mean, I live in a busy neighborhood and within an HOUR of turning off WEP, I'll have squatters on my wifi.

These are cool apps - but seriously impractical for many of us without WEP support.

On a positive note - you guys are kicking ass and taking names with applications for the DS and I appreciate it, even if I bitch.  WEP will come eventually.

well, it does support wep, the thing is i think it's got some problem with alphanumeric, but it handles numeric just fine, so i changed my wep to a plain number and then configured wep on the app, but or there is something wrong with my AP or with the app(yeah i know it's just a test) cuz it worked like 2 times, then just ceased working, i haven't changed a thing..., at first i could'nt conect to the AP so i found out the wep thing, then it conected but it did nothing, no image, then i found out that it only refreshes when i zoom in/out, otherwise it wiuld just stay with some weird green artifacts on the screen, now not even zooming in/out does anything, it conects, then just stays with a black screen(bottom) with hose green artifacts.

I tried it and the image does not show up on the DS screen like it (supposedly?) should. Also the touch screen only controls something like a 640x480 area.

Works great for me. When you start the server, zoom out first (press B) and then the screen should appear as normal. Then click a spot on the touch screen, then press A to zoom in.

The reason why WEP has such limited support is all these apps use sgstairs wifi lib, and he never got around to putting WEP in there, so all the apps are limited by the lib they all share.

I figured it was something like that ... another post mentioned that numeric only WEP keys work ... is this true?  Anyone else verify?  THAT, I wouldn't mind doing :)

yep, worked for me, i used a 6 digit number.

the only one that has no wep support is win2ds it seems.

edit: mevermind inded the wep is causing problems, even if conects, i swear that it worked for me once with the wep in, but that was it, once hehe, anyway when the new lib gets released we will see a boatload of new features wi-fi wise, and i'm sure WEP will be among them.

get the newest version, you'll have to aply a loader to it, dslazy does the job wonderfully hehe, after that start server.exe,  and run the app on the ds, you have to configure the IPs (leave your ap without a WEP) , after you conect it usually shows that green and red stuff, just hit B button to refresh the screen whithout zoom( the new version uses both screens one zommed in the other out) so the zommed out image should apear on the uper screen, hit the R triguer to switch the image to the touch scr, now touch a area that you would like to zoom in, then hit A button, then that area zoomed in will show on the upper screen , hit R trigger again to switch and now you can do stuff with the stylus, you'll have to keep switching  to do stuff, but with time you get the hang of it, i find it to be a great remote foe media players, just zoom in in the controls and keep stoping playing pausing and all, there's also win2DS wich is great as well, the only issue with that one is that it does not have zoom yet, so is really dificult to see what you're doing.
