PS2 memorycard exploit help.

Not sure if anyone can help me with this. I recently acquired a PS2. Being who I am, I then quickly modded the system with a flip top and got the latest swap magic discs.

Now I've been reading up on playing games from a harddrive and I think that's what I want to do. I have a spare 80gig HDD so that's no big deal. I'm planning on getting a 3.5inch drive to USB converter so I can easily change the software from my laptop and then move it back to my PS2.

So I have that all planned on, now onto my problem... I can't get the memory card exploit to work. While I can go through the swap magic trick when I eventually get my network card and such in... part of the point to using the MC exploit is I wouldn't have to constantly swap discs.

Specifically what's not working is that I can install the exploit, but if I put my trigger disc in all I get is a black screen. I tried several different trigger discs, all with the same result of a simple black screen.

I used the independance exploit 2.2 and 3.0. My PS2 model is 39001 (which is V7 I believe) Any help would be appreciated.

Yeesh.  I can't help, but I'd highly recommend a mod chip instead of going through all this swapping stuff.  DMS4 is awesome.  They have a no solder version if you can't solder.

Meh... modchips are expensive. If I can get the MC exploit working, I will no longer have to swap discs and then I can set HDDloader so I can play games straight from the HDD.

I had the same trouble with the black screens. But eventually found a solution.

Use this http://swapmagicfix.com/exploit.html to create your title.db file, but stop there as completing this method resulted in the black screen problem for me, but use this title.db

Use this title.db file you just created in one of your packages and hopefully it should work for you.

Sounds crazy but give it a go. All packages for me resulted in black screen, but mixing 2 of them worked ??
Yes I'm mad

Well, this is what I usually do to install exploits:

Start Independence compiler 4.1, extract your Disc info using the program (remember it must be a PS1 disc, I had trouble using gameshark as a exploit disc).
After that use launchelf as loader, add your HD Loader (I recommend 0.7c) and then compile your ISO.
Burn it using alcohol so that it will be 100% PS2 format.

Now make the swaps, and it should install onto memory.

Well... not having any problem installing the exploit... the problem is using the method meangreenie says still gives me just a blank screen. Using the method karurosu suggests I have the exact same problem I have with the version 3 loader... that is the exploits install... but the PSX games boot straight up and not loading the exploit. And it's not the 1 PS1 game either... I've tried with every PS1 game I have same exact response.

Ahh well... worst case scenario I'll just have to swap an HDD loader disc in when I get my network adapter in.

The folks at exploitstation.com wil be of great service to you, currently I have 2 ps2s and am quite familar with the memcard exploit, I use Action Replay max to get files onto my memcard but other methods like ftp etc work great too, because im a cheapskate tho i do the cheapest possible thing.  Try the guys over there im sure they will be able to help you as i havent started with HD's on the ps2 yet.  good luck
