I'm sure this has been mentioned on multiple occasions but for some reason search is just returning nothig all the time, so i couldnt do a good search. I just recieved my SC and a Kingston 512MB SD card. I formatted the card as FAT (not FAT32), put some roms on it and put it in... it says "Not find the SD" So i tried a 256MB sandisk card i had around too... reformatted it properly etc... no luck there either. Any ideas on what i should do? Sorry about this being for sure a repetative topic....

Edit:

The Kingston card has a write protect lock, and when I turn that on it gives an error about it being write protected... Not sure what that means exactly, but it means it is accessing the device a little at least. Help is appreciated!

Hold down L + R when you turn on your DS/GBA and the supercard will go into diagnostic mode. Check and see if that comes up with any errors.

Hmm, it just comes up with the same error when holding down L+R, "not find the SD, Please turn off GBA" ... I bought the GBA used and just recieved it today, so who knows if the L+R even work right ;) lol - i dont have another thing to try in it right now though :(.

Koji

Hmm.... that is very odd. The Supercard may be bad... it's really hard to tell just from that though... Do you have any files on the SD cards right now?

Shagin099

I have tried both with and without, on both of the cards with the same result. The supercard also seems to fit EXTREMELY tight into the GBA.. is this normal?

Koji

Yes, the tight fit is 100% normal. After quite a few uses it gets much easier to take it in and out. If it bothers you too much you can lightly sand away the side and it'll make things easier to move in and out. But I wouldn't if you plan on returning the supercard for a new one.

Yeah I sent an e-mail to KickTrading where i bought it... I hope they dont make me pay for return shipping as I paid a ton of shipping to begin with :-/... Thanks for the help!

Hi, just see if this can help you: I had exactly the same problem as you and the cause was that my USB card reader only writes in FAT32 mode. That is, even if I format the card in FAT mode, all files are writen using FAT32 and the card is broken. I changed to a Woxter MP3 player with SD read/write capabilities and now all cards work properly.

I hope you can try another card reader and get to fix it without having to send your SC back to the seller ;)

Shagin099

After I format it does report the FS as FAT and not FAT32 in properties.. just to try something else i tried Storage Card Tools for pocketpc to format it to fat16 and the GBA still doesnt recognize it :(... Thanks for trying though! :)

Shagin099

So do you guys pretty much agree that I should send it back at this point? KickTrading e-mailed me back and said they would replace it, but I have to pay shipping back to them (which kinda stinks)... Let me know what you think, or if you have any other troubleshooting tips! :)

ShadowFalls

Well, if you have confirmed its not the card reader, and you formatted it in FAT with two seperate cards which work fine (Sandisk brand is known to be compatible) Then there is no other option really. Last thing I could tell you is to try on another GBA.

Just a little update here .... I used it in another GBA and was able to get to the test screen which said the SRAM passed... unfortunatly though that means the shoulder buttons dont work on my gba... and after testing with another game this has been confirmed... So it looks like i'll be sending in my GBA and my SC, wont be buying another GBA though - goin for the DS i do believe :)
