Hi

Gave up on Emerald just now but thought I'd try to get Ruby working
as my son has played none of the Pokemons so far.

Supcard gives the battery run dry message and on the advice from this forum I downloaded the fluke patch and applied it using ips XP
I tried appplying the patch on the basic game (i.e. before supercard conversion) - got the battery message.
I also tried applying the patch to the game after conversion -
still got the battery message.

Any suggestions - Haven't tried just applying the patch and copying it to the  SD card without applying the supercard conversion. Is that what I should be doing - does the Fluke patch negate the need for the supercard conversion (well why don't you just try that intead of posting this question - well I don't have access to the cart just now as I write this)

Last though is how can I check my Pokemon Ruby is OK?
It is showing as 16384 KB

lostmike said the fluke patch doesn't work but does that mean it doesn't work on Emerald - or simply doesn't work?

lostmike aslo says gbata only fixes ruby and sapphire
I suspect this is going to sound stupid but where do I get this gbata fix?

Koji

Takes an original unaltered pokemon ruby rom.

Open it in GBATA (do a websearch for it)

Click on "real time clock" tab and hit "patch".

That should fix the RTC issues.

and when I've done that do I just run it through Super Card 2.51 for SD Version
Copy it onto the SD card - and that should be it?

On a similar note, anyone know where to find a similar patch for FireRed/LeafGreen?  I've looked but have not found.

Tried the Ruby/Sapphire patch in GBATA just in case, but didn't work.

Dwoosh someone_Else!!!
do your research before posting.
leafgreen/firered hasn't even got an RTC!
and I've had to correct you somewhere else too.

Well then the 'save fix' then..;P  The one where it acts the same as RTC failures..;P

Oh, and you mean the thread where you DIDN'T correct me, because I'd already said it myself, AND another person as well? ..;P

Don't be an arse to make yourself feel good, leave such childishness out of the forums.

And When researching for 'save fixes' for the game, all I got was "save fix in VBA without patches,' so without knowing beforehand the word 'dwoosh' (at which point I'd have already found it, don't you think?)

Point is a bit moot now, as the SC save patches seem to screw up the save fixes, if indeed they worked at all with the game.

ah weird... there are two posts before me... think I should refresh more often.
my point is there is enough confusion wothout other people spreading around wrong information.

but I don't see your problem leafgreen and firered work just fine on the supercard. not sure about real time save but as that's already in the game there is no need.

The realtime saves (save states) from the SC work, but restoreing them (from cold boot/load) results in the 'play area' scene rendering all black unless you move out of a door you cannot see.  'play area' being the place where the actual characters/scenery etc. are.  The trigger help menu thing comes up fine.  I tried making a save state on that help menu thing and returning to play, but same problem.  I guess the only option (sans working normal save fix) is to always savestate above a door so you always know to move down. Obviously a bit of a pain, but so far it's all I can come up with.

So now if you're saying your normal saves save and load fine, I guess I have to find out what's different from my dumps and patches and yours.

What are you using?

amt01

ok the gbata seems to have fixed it THANKS !!!

leafgreen/firered hasn't got an RTC!

That's odd as it was after Ruby.
So I won't have any problems with that then for the supercard.

My son is just 9 - Will he manage these games OK?
The walkthough I downloaded for him was 170 pages!!!

Is it best doing Ruby then Firered then Emerald
Or are they just varations on a theme? - once he has done Ruby
are the other 2 much the same?

Probably FireRed/LeafGreen. Since it's just a graphhically (And tradable-with-GBA pokemon games) updated version of Red/Green/Blue/ETC with a few tweaks, that's probably where to start.  FireRed/LeafGreen also seem to have a lot of tutorials/Help menus added in which may help kids get aquainted with the RPG-like system.  I'm actually trying to get FireRed/LeafGreen to work well myself so as to play/trade with my nephew's game.

Blight

firered is something special.
it is actually a remake of the original  pokemon red.
I think if you're starting with pokemon you should start with firered.
