I just played liero on my PC and then i thougt that the graphics are not to difficult to handle for a DS. So i searched for a way to play DOS-Games on the DS. I know that there is this Emulator DOSbox and i know that there is also a betaversion of PSP-DOSbox.
So how difficult is it to play LIERO on my DS?

Therion

No DosBox for DS now
But there is ScummVM DS.SCUMM is a Lucasarts adventure games engine.ScummVM is a virtual machine for some modern system, like MacOS,PS2,PSP,Symbian and DS.
so you can use DS port ScummVM to play Monkey Island series,Indiana Jones series and other games using SCUMM on DS.

yeah...If there is DosBoxDS that will be great, but maybe DS is not that powerful to run DosBox...

DOS isn't exactly taxing on any system. I'm sure it's possible, just that no one has done it.

I have faith this will come from the hands of GPF, the Dreamcast coder with SDL experience. He has done many ports from PC to DC using SDL.
Even DOSboxDC.
And he's working in some DS codings. Like a impleentation of SDL for DS.

Dos isn't taxing... the big ting is you can't simply emulate the DOS software... you have to completely emulate the hardware BEHIND DOS. That means you'll have to emulate (probably) a 386+ processor if you wanted to get any of the decent old dos games to work.

By the by, does anyone have a complete list of games that use the SCUMM engine?

karurosu

go to scummvm.org and in the compatibility.
As for games that works on the NDS version, only the ones from lucasarts.
arurosu @ Animation2 Ltd.

I think even there is a DosBoxDS,it will be a limited game range port version, that you can only play some games, not all....can't play DOS4GW game,SVGA games etc...

actually,I want to see a DS port of Might & Magic 3/4/5

lol.
while we're dreaming though i would like settlers II...
TFU:
St. Fu, patron saint of all ninjas.
WTF:
Went To France, home of the baguette.
HAXXOR:
Hacksaw, device used for cutting metals.

you're better off remaking the game for gba, or something.

like koji said, you'd need to emulate a pc for it to work. which isn't feasable.

i'd like to see commander keen on my ds though...

CloneKeen is a opensource SDL remake for the old DOS Commander Keen engine. GPF ported it to dreamcast, why DS can't?

It'd probably be easier if everyone just learned how to use the SDL librarires and started porting over SDL remakes of old dos games  :D , start by porting DC sdl to DS sdl, then move on to PC sdl to DS sdl, how hard could it be  :P

The fact that the dreamcast is oh... twice as fast and has 4 times the ram may have something to do with it.

Also, you are talking about single engines. Single engines do not a DOS emulator make.

one more DOS game on DS
dsREminiscence just out,so we can play FlashBack on DS
I just tried it,the game is smooooooth, but no sound and music.....

What's the RAM and processor clock for DS?
Dreamcast has shamelessly 16MB of RAM and a SH4 200MHz processor, plus a great but hard to use PowerVR GFX chipset.
