Quote from: "m2pt5"I've heard that in games with a lot of information transmitting (like Mario Kart) dialup users cause a lot of lag for everyone else.

Unless you're only going to add other dialup users to your friends list, or you don't mind getting dropped from races a lot, don't bother.

This is very good advice. There's nothing worse than some 56k'er joining a game and lagging everybody else out ... I get annoyed about this in particular because I have a 100Mbps dedicated (FTTH) connection - so when I connect to some who I know is close to me (geographically) and who I can usually ping in less than 5-10ms, and suddenly some clown with a 56k connnection joins and everyone's pings jump up to like 200+, it's HIGHLY annoying.

Thanks for making it short and sweet, m2pt5 ... ;)

Seriously now, that'd be good in this country [NZ], where broadband is overly expensive, overpriced, unreliable, and slow.

We're so freaking behind.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Hi to all,
I tested dialup connection (i cannot have a fast connection).
Real connection via modem is near 45k.
I tested 2 NDS with mario Kart using 1 nintendo wifi usb connected to notebook connected in internet.

I play (using friend code) without any visible lag.

bye

If you play with more than one opponent, it's quite likely there will be significantly more lag, and possibly even dropped connections.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Well mister x, not trying to be an ass here or anything but, unfortunetly, if you want to be gaming online you just HAVE to try and get yourself a decent connection, because if you try and play with dialup not only your gaming experience will be bad but you migh ruin the game for others as well, i know that there are some places that theres no broadband OR the cost is so unbelievably high(believe me i know, i live in brasil...), people that got say a 100Mbit dedicated connection just can't really understand that....

so i know how it is to be a gamer and not be able to play online, luckly i was fortunate enough to find a good deal in here for a lame 600Kbps connection, am still paying as much or even more that someone would pay for a 100Mbit on sweeden but hey, its the best i can get here.
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

Haha ... :)

It took me a minute, but I finally got it. Of course I only played for a few minutes, so I have an excuse. ;)

Anyway, lol -

Interesting!!
Playing devils advocate(no pun intended Blekekblebek and mavis  )for a second there appears to be some semblence of true to the concept of 56K online gaming!!
Here in Australia the prices of highspeed are dropping slowly, but until such time as the come down somewhat further in $$ i am afraid its the ole' 56Ker for me....
I am not actually a gamer at all...i have 2 sons aged 8 and 12 who received their CSSD's from Santa 2005....an amazing adition to the DS they also got.....I play the role of "researcher" I guess on their behalf.

I had always assumed that online gaming was the domain of the broadband internet'er till last weekend i read the article...it piqued my interest, but remained a little sceptical......so thought whom better to ask  !!
I appreciate fully the sentiments of those above who feel sooo strongly that its ruining their play....but still, i have to confess that the idea does sound very appealing...on behalf of the kidz naturally!!
Thanks alpo70 for your inputs  in that regard!!
Anybody else given it a shot or is able to test it then report back??

Blebekblebek

it's same here

we (indonesian ppl) mostly don't have internet connection
n dial up price are so expensive (say... 1$US/Hour)

the speed... is god d@mn slow...

but few of my friends still get connected
if you want to play online just play w/ other ppl that using dial up connection too
