It's just saying that Nintendo will probably release another DS down the line.

compare it to the GBA line...

GBA -> GBA SP -> GBA micro

DS -> DS lite -> DS ?

That's all the article is saying, and I think it's pretty much a "no duh" sorta thing that'll happen down the line.
