I bought 2 of the linksys PCI wireless adapters mentioned in the wifime tutorial on here hoping to play my DS games over wifi.
I've never made a network before so am treadin thin ice fmro the start O.O
I installed the 2 cards fine and the network went up in ad hoc mode using the app that came with the cards. (i just have 2 PCs and no access point thingy).
But when i uninstalled the drivers and put the DS driver in and tried to set up a network it said there's no network cards installed...
Agh.
Any advice plz?
I have a DS with a passme and SD supercard btw, and haven't attempted setting up any of the wifime stuff yet.
Sorry if I sound stoopid... i am!
Cheers,
Matt.

well.. we got some issues then.. well let's try taking one at a time .. first of i'd like to know exactly what PCI WLAN's u got .. ralink one's i hope .. and we'll take it from there..

Wifi install

I want to make sure you understand WiFiMe is used to to send homebrew code to your DS wirelessly, nothing more.  This means the WiFiMe driver doesn't alow you to play MKDS online.

After the WiFiMe driver is properly installed you should see "Nintendo DS - 802.11" in windows device manager.  Then you can "beam" homebrew code from your PC to your DS using WMB.exe.

If you just want to play online games then you need a wireless router or Nintendo USB connector.

Edit:
Why did you buy two linksys PCI cards?

QazzaQY2K

he can run PassMe  with it ibelive .. anyway i tihnk he got two cuz he wanted to have a wireless network at home ..

Ah, I thought I'd be able to play wifi DS games this way...
But yeah I did want a wireless network anyway, so I'm not too worried.
The Linksys cards installed with the DS drivers OK as described in that tutorial... it's just now when I try and install a network to get them both talkin, windows tells me I don't have any network cards installed.

Currently one PC is connected to the net via a PCI adsl modem.
So if I get a wireless router/access point this will fix me up for online wireless DS gaming?
If I do this do I still need to use these alternate drivers? and do i again need a certain router or will any do?

nope you don't need those drives at all what u need is a softAP software .. and if ur chipset is the rt2500 or rt2560 or whatever it is .. u can use this SoftAP App just uninstall whatever u had installed be4 .. all the drives and the wifime ... and this will do.. that's after u have updated ur firmware on ur NDS.. with PassMe v6 that is..

P.S updating with wifime works only if ur NDS is v1,2,3 i think othere don't allow wifime as hack and needs a SuperPassMe v2

Quote1. installed the wifi card with the ralink driver
2. swithed the card to AP mode
3. OK on the screen that appears (dont need to change anything)
4. go to my ds - wifi
5. i set an ip myself to the ds. since my wifi card is 192.168.10.1, i set the ds to 192.168.10.2.
6. at DNS configuration, you place the same ip from you wifi card (in this case, 192.168.0.1)
7. go to my dialup connection config (yes, i play FINE with dial up)
8. Sharing, allow sharing with: LAN CONNECTION 3 (choose what is the name of your wifi connection, here my ETH0 is Lan connection 1 and the wifi is 3, dont know why i dont have a number 2..) This is for Windows 2000, in XP you dont need to configure the name of the connection.
9. wait some seconds
10. go to ds, test connection, works
11. play

Quote from: "QazzaQY2K"and if ur chipset is the rt2500 or rt2560 or whatever it is .. u can use this SoftAP App

I didn't know SoftAP and WiFiMe use the same rt2560 chipset.  SoftAP would be a good solution for you duragzu if it works with your linksys PCI wireless adapter.

Yes.  A wireless router/AP works best because it will have longer range than a USB connector, and a router can be used by other computers.

Any router will do.

You only need the WiFiMe drivers if you want to send homebrew programs to your DS with WMB.EXE.  WiFiMe works great for homebrew development.

Thanks people!
I just got it working kinda, following QazzaQY2K's advice with that softAP.
I tried Mario Kart and the game's wifi screen found my PC, but couldn't connect outside!
How do I flasme tp v6? I'm not sure about that...
I have the latest sd firmware and software tho.
And do I need to patch mario kart?
If so where do i get all that stuff.

Thanks again.

QazzaQY2K

Happy it worked out.. with some tweaking the settings im sure u figure it out.. if not give me a shout..

PassMe v6
PassMe v6 *Stealth*

Now read and follow the instructions VERY CAREFULLY!! PassMe Main Page *BOOKMARK*

P.S I got me a Asus WL-167g USB Dongel with the Asus progs whitch already suport SoftAP! works like a charm and i can take it with me to friends;P

Wat the hell is SoftAP....just looked at my router stats and it has that on there too. What's so special about that?

QazzaQY2K

It's a Wierless network card ala USB.. with the supreme rt2500 chipset.. but what's better is that Asus have there own software whitch support SoftAP.. now what's SoftAP then .. well it's Software emulated AP and AP is Access Point .. aka a router that's software based .. anyway it's that same chip that nintendo used in there dongel.. (acrm for USB Wireless network card) i got my super cheap.. 305SEK (i'm swedish ;P) that was incl the shipping .. and u got some kewl extension usb cable a extra direction pointing usb extension.. also a necklace thingy to keep ur usb dongel with you when ur at the move. (friends place or something)

Best part is it works with ur normal wierless nic's and with ur PSP with ur XBOX and with ur Nintendo DS .. all in the same settings :D ohh my lapptop also use's one of thease just had to get me 3 of them once i saw them.. hehe..

Short term .. SoftAP = WiFi HotSpot = Play NDS WiFi  WFC :D

Hope you got any smarter now with all my babling.. if not give me some flaming and i'll do better..
