Alright so, I'm having serious issues. I got my SC/SP2 today. I then did what some instructions I found said to do. When the SC would run, the bottom screen would say Supercard DS - does this mean I'm successfully in "DS mode"? At the time I thought this was GBA mode and I eventually to think I was originally wrong. In any case, I ran GBA stuff fine (i.e. GBA games, pocketnes). In addition, when I ran GBA stuff the bottom screen would remain on and all-white. When I tried to run nesds however it didn't work (the top screen would say game boy and the bottom screen would stay white).

I thought that maybe, it was because I hadn't configured the SuperPass yet (I was still thinking I was in GBA mode). So I plugged it into the printer port attachment and programmed it to use the cart I'm using (Mario Kart US). I then copied the files to the SD card, ran the .gba file with the superpass not in the slot, put the superpass in, turned off/on ds and tried running DS. It was pretty much the same as before - the screen at the bottom still said Supercard DS. The only differences now are 1) I always have to load SRAM if I turn it off for too long or it goes to double white screen and 2) when I run stuff the bottom screen turns off. 2 applies to NesDS as well. NesDS still didn't work but instead of having a white bottom screen and "Game Boy" at the top - the "Game Boy" was still there, but the bottom screen was now off.

So I ended up reprogramming the Superpass to passme 1 and now I don't have to do #1 anymore, but there's still the problem with #2. This post is long as heck and the only point I'm trying to get to is that I have no clue what I'm doing and I need help.  :? I guess I just wanted to provide as much detail as I could.

(BTW, in addition to trying NesDS I also tried TetrisArm9 that I saw on nintendo-dcemu.com)

Basically, I think it's safe to say that my symptom, now, is this. If "DS mode" means that it says "Supercard DS" in the 'other' screen and "GBA mode" means that the 'other' screen is turned off, then I successfully get into DS mode but as soon as I run anything it goes into gba mode.

You can boot the DS into it's menu screen where you see pictochat ect and go into settings and then choose which screen you see GBA games, top or bottom. Also from there you can tap the GBA area to boot into GBA mode. When you play a GBA game or an emu only 1 screen will be on and the other will be white and with Flashme the other screen will be turned off.

That's not my problem.. My problem is that I can't get DS stuff to run: NesDS, DS homebrew games, etc. GBA stuff works fine however.

What happens is that as soon as I run a DS file and it loads, the active screen gives me the game boy intro and the other screen turns off (which I assume shouldn't happen if I'm trying to run a ds file) and then it freezes with the active screen still sayin "game boy"

DeVS

Ohh im sorry I misunderstood. Are you patching the DS games?

Insofar as I'm using Supercard (v2.51) software to transfer the files to my SD, yes. At least, that's all I understood I needed to do in order for the files to be patched. Is that correct?

Edit: BTW, I'm also not trying any commercial games. All I've tried so far is a couple of homebrew titles and NesDS

It sounds like you're running ds.gba files.  You need to rename these to .nds

MakavelianKode

^^ Thanks, but apparently it's still not fixed =\. So here's what I did, I downloaded one or two homebrew games from here (one game I tried for exmaple is  "Omalone" by Alx & Mvx). This time, I made sure I got the .nds versions. When I add them to the SC software and output them to the sd card - that goes through fine and outputs a .nds.dsq file. When I attempt to run that file in the ds is says 00000k / 4640k (regardless of what dsq file I'm running or it's actual size) and freezes there.

You don't need to patch homebrew. Also the SC is a bit weird... It runs ds.gba files as .nds... so unpatched .nds files won't work... you need to get the ds.gba versions and rename them to .nds. If there is no .ds.gba version you need to prepend a file called "ndsloader.bin" you can find out lots of information in this case by searching etc...

Thanks, I don't know why I didn't realize that. In any case it definitely got further. It finishes loading and goes to two white screens - I'm just glad it's still in DS mode so to speak.

I'm not sure I really understand this.

Yeah, I apologize if I've been asking the type of questions that have been asked a dozen times - I just couldn't find the solution in the first couple pages and wasn't really sure what to search for.

In a nutshell rename any homebrew from homebrew.ds.gba to homebrew.nds and they should run.

MakavelianKode

Well, what I was saying was, that it's closer but it's not running yet. Instead of turning off the bottom screen or freezing at 00000k / 4640k it's now loading to completion and freezing after it loads with two white screens.

ratx

Well it could be some other issue but thats what you'd get if you ran the .nds version...  try some other homebrews I guess see what results you get

MakavelianKode

Sure... I would think though that, NesDS would at least work.

This guy had a similar problem so I wouldn't be surprised if I could run commercial DS games.

I was right. The commercial game works fine. So I've narrowed it down further - All GBA stuff works fine, Commercial DS stuff works fine. I'm just having problems with homebrew (including emulators) on DS. I've tried all types of stuff I can think of but none of the homebrew is working and I'd really like to get some emus running.
