use a tiny flathead screwdriver or nail. They SL1 slot can be found under the battery cover. The hole is covered by a small red and white sticker. Remove the sticker and insert the screwdriver or whatever into the hole making sure it touches both sides of the SL1 thingy. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR DS IS PLUGGED IN BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO DO THIS.

I used a piece of stripped wire, worked great, but you can take a flathead screwdriver too.
You just insert your "shorting-object" in the hole behind the battery cover, it's protected with a nice sticker.

I used a small nail. Worked fine. Just don't freak out and turn it off once the percentage goes up, it does NOT matter if you loose contact, just make contact again until the percentage reachs 100%.

I had a really hard time shorting it, but I eventually found a square nail that worked.

I had trouble because I was using a small eyeglass screwdriver and I was sticking it in the slot like it was a screw (l).  I got it to work easily when I put the screwdriver across the slot and bridged the gap (+).

If you can't find a small enough nail or screwdriver, tin foil is a great alternative.

I read somewhere that wrapped around a toothpick works well but Ive flashed a few DS's by just rolling up some foil into a thin tube  :)
