GBA Linkage - Advance Wars

Has anyone got this to work? I tried to use both Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2 (US Roms) with Advance Wars Dual Strike to buy the items available when those games are inserted in the GBA slot.

It does load the GBA rom first, then the NDS rom and goes into the game but it doesn't appear to recognize the link. I am assuming it may have to do that it is looking for a save to determine the link.

Just wondering if anyone tried this and got it to work with Advance Wars or any game that recognizes linking for that matter.

i assume youve tried this, but for gba>ds linking i believe you need to have the gba game be the same name as the nds game. *except with the obvious gba extention.*

when i get off work tonight ill try around with this.

*do i need to complete aw1-2 to get the special items in awds?*

Yes, I did that, and it does load the gba rom prior to the nds rom, so it is working in the sense that it is loading the gba game prior to loading and running the nds rom.

As far as I know you do not have to complete the previous advance wars to get the unlockables from them. You just need to have the rom inserted into the gba slot. What I do not know is if you need to have a valid save for it as that may be the problem but I can't confirm.

So it appears to work in the sense that it is loading the rom however it does not appear to make the link.

I did patch the gba roms with the sc software as well - not sure if that makes a difference. I might try it with unpatched roms later to see if it does make any difference.

The same happens for me with Wario Ware, it loads the gba rom before hand then loads the NDS rom but it doesnt add any special movie that its supposed to add

I tried with unpatched advance wars roms and made no difference. I also tried Castlevania with Aria of Sorrow (GBA) and the same thing. It loads but doesn't unlock the GBA unlocks. I tried that also with patched and unpatched gba roms.

Considering the example Romman has for the update (rom 94 which is the japanese version of Castlevania) I figured that should work but it didn't.

I haven't been able to find anyone that has gotten it to work so no idea how this linking is really supposed to work. It might be the game saves - which I did create and left them as .sav as opposed to .nds.sav but that also did not make a difference.

It worked for me with Bleach DS and Bleach Advance either Japanese.

Can you explain exactly what you did to get it to work? I also tried with Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow / Aria of Sorrow and it didn't work either - and that (the japanese version) was the example they gave.

Do you need a valid save? And if so, what was it named / how did you load it? Did you patch the gba rom? And if so, what options?

I see the latest m3 firmware has the same feature and it appears none of the m3 users can get this to work either.
