supercard has slowdown on games with good graphics.
whats the cheapest alternative which has no slowdown at all?

omaemad

slowdowns only happen in gba games when all the patcher options are ticked (ie restart, cheats, realtime svae etc)

nds games have little slowdown (depends on your media card speed not the supercard)
man fears time but time fears the pyramid"

whowho

supercard has slowdowns even without the real time save and restart patch according to people here.
besides even if without patching its fine, you still need to use the qpc method which makes me wonder if it fucks the gba up.

The M3 is good for GBA/NDS.
But their development team is such a bunch of lozers.
If your only interested in GBA just click on the ad above to sebson media and buy any backup device there.
Like an EZ or something.
The supercard just sucks, yet it is amazing at nds games for some strange reason.

I just had a look on sebson:
I would recommend the EZ3 1G http://www.sebson-media.de/product_info.php?products_id=7
If you want more space you can get the 2G version

now it would just be so expensive to buy another device

i would not worry about it there is 2370 GBA games to pick from im sure there is plenty of them that have no slowdown & plenty of fixs for the rest

dont give up just yet

Supercard rocks! If running GBA games is your biggest concern then supercard was not a great choice.  If you want to run DS games and homebrew then supercard was an excellent choice.  The supercard only has in-game slowdown running GBA games.  For DS games the supercard has slowdowns loading levels with some games. In-game DS play should be fine. Check out this compatibility list for best supercard patcher options . . .

If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

You made 2 topics with basically the same points.  So I'm going to cut-and-paste my reply from your other thread into this thread as well.

First off, I've only found a small minority of good games that have slow down even WITH the Restart, Save, Quicksave patches on.

And an even smaller percentage of games that slow down with those OFF. I use my SC on my gameboy micro. 100% GBA games, no DS games. I play 95% of my games with Quicksave, Save, Restart, Compress with no slowdown compared to the same games running on VBA emulator on my 3.8ghz computer.

The reports of "massive slowdowns on tons of gba games" is retarded and wrong. While there are DEFINITELY some non-working games or games with unfixable slowdown, they are a MINORITY.

whowho

hi..
thank you very much for replying to my post about supercard slowdown.
the thing is that as for now i played only 2 games on my new card, and one of them had major slowdown which really bugs... it was aladdin.
then i loaded yoshis island...i excpected it to be a pretty standard check of my card...and it has an awfull damn lots of slowdown! :\
the thing is that it actually lets me know that from now on, each game i play which has graphical quality like yoshis island will basically slow down.. and it sucks :\
so are you saying its not true?
youre saying that games with graphical quality like yoshis island WONT slowdown on my card?
thank you!

meangreenie

Yes that's what he said.

And you only put 2 games on you're supercard ??? in all the time you started posting ??? Maybe if you try some more games you can work out the answers to you're questions a lot quicker.
Yes I'm mad

whowho

i wanna enjoy the graphical qualities of my gba :\
i dont want it to slow down every time things get *really* good  looking :\

Yoshi's Island is one of the few games that I bother using QPC with.

With Saver Patch enabled (no restart patch), I've played from 1-1 to 1-3 so far in Yoshi's Island with absolutely no slowdown whatsoever.

Try some different settings before complaining.

whowho

i just finished playing through the..umm..intro..of yoshis island..without any patches..and damn...its got lots of slowdown
then it runs fine for a couple of minutes, until its gets shit again

i have to disagree here.  there is slowdown, even with the patch settings you used.  maybe you just haven't compared it to the original cart.

the bottom line is, when you're playing a game with lots of Mode7 graphics (yoshi's island) or lots of big sprites on screen at the same time, there will be slowdown.  it's a limitation of the SDRAM used in the supercard.  there is nothing we can do to completely eliminate the issue.  there are, however ways to minimize this, and they have been discussed exhaustively in these very same forums. search around and you'll see.
