is there any difference between m3 mini sd and m3 sd apart from the size?
and doest m3 has better compatibility then sc besides the speed thing?

If you have 15 questions about m3, keep them all in 1 post.

Not necessarily. Supercard gets more compatible with every firmware release.

Personally, I'd rather pay half the price and have slightly less compatibility.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Reaperman93010

the 3 different m3 units all function exactly the same.
the only difference is that the very smallest of them takes miniSD.

But yes, M3 has far better compatability, especially when playing GBA games on a GBA system.  Not just slowdown, but supercard has problems even booting a few titles.  A fair number of games you have to tinker with the settings quite a bit to get them to even load.  And by the time you finish tinkering, you almost always get a game that won't save in anything close to a normal fashion.

as far as supercard becomming more compatable in the future, that really depends on what you want it to become more compatable with.  It's DS compatability has really come a long way, and seems to be the focus of the supercard team.  But if you're using the unit to play GBA games in a GBA system, don't expect to see much if any real progress.  Don't get me wrong, supercard *will* make you happy for a good amount of time until the compatability issues start to get annoying.  And a good fix for it is upgrading your GBA to a DS, since DS plays GBA games with far fewer issues. (though I *HATE* DS, so that's not an option for me)

I don't mean to turn you off of it.  Supercard is a real bargain, and if you can remember that it is what it is, you will be happy.  Afterall, it will run almost all GBA games, at almost GBA quality.

but just a run down on the down sides of M3:
certain games (very few) require minor patches to work properly
there is no M3 rom compression program, so you need separate software for that
there is no M3 cheat function so you need to patch for that separately

Since I don't yet own an M3, those are all the downsides I can think of, but maybe somebody over there can list some more.

Don't forget that the saving system in M3 isn't as nice as SC.

Really ?
This sounds new to me, in fact when I play any GBA games on the DS it plays exactly as on the real GBA.
Slowdons/flickering/compatibility etc... All exactly the same.
Can you provide some example ? Maybe I am missing something....

Reaperman93010

beats me, that's what everybody was saying when DS came out (since I don't own one).

The folks here were saying it had something to do with the way DS loaded data for the emulation.  But if it slows down--you'd know more about it then me.  I'm just waiting for the next gameboy,

Maybe it's me, but I think metroid prime pinball (NDS) runs slightly
faster on the supercard (CF) than on the M3 (SD). Is there any way
of timing these carts.

I think it's just the CF vs SD issue. I have SC SD and my sister has SC CF. Every "problem" ROM runs just slightly better on her deal than mine. Two quick examples: 1. Ultimate Spiderman has sfx & rarely crashes; 2. Intro vid on Castlevania DoS runs quite a bit more smoothly.

M3 CF is slightly better on games than SD too. Or, look at the dumping times for DS ROMs... not even close.

CF wins hands down on speed for DS useage.

However, I still prefer SD. 8)

Hoping for a microSD/TranFlash DS card. So we can use the rumble pack with the Metroid games, & the RAM cart for the upcoming Opera browser.

Apart from the fact one uses miniSD cards and the other uses full sized SD cards or miniSD cards in a SD adapter... no. They both use the same kernel and the same method/hardware to access the data on the SD card - miniSD is basically a subset of SD and has to be fully compliant with how SD operates.
