I think Payk is trying to out do LiraNuna because Tales of Dagur won the spring coding competition.  They both have done some excellent work.

The following information was posted by Dovoto over at

3D RPG engine demo

Payk. has produced an interesting little demo of a 3D walk-about on a height mapped play field.  It looks very promising.  This is part of a larger RPG maker project so stay tuned for updates...

Get the file

Not only Payk is working on this project :)
Me and some others too...
Payk is writing the engine and I am building the RPG-Maker for PC.
We planned to write another maker for NDS, but this will happen later.

And yes, Payk will knock out LiraNuna or better LiranUna ;)

Hey!  What do you know?  I'm the one that wrote the village music for Payk,  :D.  I didn't know it was a two part project...  I guess he's using the songs I wrote in the sample RPG to show off what the maker can do.  It's gonna be pretty awesome if anyone can make an RPG that looks like this, though!  I just wish there was a play to play RPGs made with RPG Maker 2k/2k3, as I have one I've been working on for years.  .

Keep up the good work!!!  And let me know if you guys need help with anything else.

Dawn2k are you still working on the DSweb web browser program for the DS.

Sorry, but i can't go on working if i don't get any broadband connection to the internet. The German Telekom says it is possible to get DSL within the next two months. But i don't really belive it, cause they said it so many times before
Rolling Eyes
If i really get any faster connection i will go on working and the browser will be finished in about a month, cause i will only have to do the wifi stuff and the guys who are writing minimo(browser for PPC) gave their whole engine to me, so the parser will be (re-)written soon

Hehe, thanks...
You're right he will write a sample RPG and I know the story :P
Converting from RM2k to DS doesn't seem to be possible so you would have to rewrite it completly and i think this will be a lot of work if you worked on this game for years...

Wanna have update?!

Payk included GBFS. If you want to play use the roms from the /bundle/ directory. I didn't really test it, but i think you can change the sprites now.
Should run on Dualis and hardware quite well.
If you find bugs, please report.

I see Payk got the collusion system working (actually, I think he said it was done the last time I talked to him), and the frame-rate is much more consistant.  Good work guys!

I'm a little confused with changing the main character, though .  You convert any 256x256 .bmp to .map with the program provided, and rename it "charmain"...  Then, when you run "PACK.bat", it compiles the .map files to .gbfs and appends it to 3DTest.nds and 3DTest.ds.gba in the bundle folder, right?  But it says that both of those files are .bin files, and neither one's file-size indicates that data.gbfs was added (they're both still 189kb)...  I noticed that there's ds.gba and .nds files in the folder with "PACK.bat" that are the same size (189kb) which are not .bin files.  Could these be what data.gbfs needs to be appended to?  Or are the .bin and .gbfs being appended to a completely different file (i.e. 3DTestPack.sc.nds)?

I know you haven't tested it much, and I could be being totally stupid right now :D...  But I figured I'd clear up the fog for me and the other people downloading this.

Also, I haven't been able to get this running on any emulators...  What settings do you use on Dualis?

Payk

Hey guys whats up....
Hmhmh there is no need to convert them for now...Thanx Mighty Max the engine is able to load 24bit bmp files now. It has scripts now and is alo able to add as much mapsas you want thanx that script...
But its still not a game...And sorry demensiont your great music is still not included but i have it on my pc and its promissed to be added soon.
So because here was a topic opened for our project why not uploading newest version?
because an error appeared...hmhmhm use that link please to test newest versions

http://payk2005.pa.funpic.de/CF%20versionen.rar For use with SCCF M3CF GBAMP and MK2/3

Payk

what da f..k? ahh just copy and paste that link.......
Hmhmh it runs on Dualis but has bad errors...best would be you set the frameskip to 2...then it runs itchy but you can see all...
Also the hole world is mirrored in the water...but not the player...and there are some lines in the ground...damn
But on hardware you wont have theese bugs...

Hi Payk.  Nice improvements with the 3D engine.  Are you going to add lighting soon?  Looking forward to future updates.

DimensionT

Hey, Payk.  Don't worry about it, man.  I know you'll put my tunes to good use :).  Let me know when you have the battles done and I'll get to work on some new stuff.

The project's comming along nicely. Good job, guys!  It's gonna be sweet once we get to mess with multiple maps, and hopefully events aren't too far off.

I replaced the sprites and such with the ones from the game I'm making with RPGmaker just to see what it'd be like, and I have to say it turned out pretty good.  The main character looks a little funky, but that's probably because I had to stretch him out to fit the format.  I'd post a screenshot but I can't figure out how.  I can't get it running on Dualis for some reason (it either crashes the emulator or shows 2 white screens).
Guess I can bust out the digital camera .

Payk

You want light? You will get it, promissed... if have planed it so i am going to do it... also i had an improvement today which increased that framerate by 1.5...So i have resources for that...

Payk

Ahh yeah...before i forget to say: Set the frameskip to 3 or 4 on Dualis and it runs...but not like it should.... And yes Events,Items and Villigers are going to give the game sence...Let me just make lights and doors before..

You forgot the files
Please do not release files on dcemu/drunkencoders/tehskeen until Payk says it is ok, because they are for testing only
