This is the description of the new features in the 2.53 release of the Supercard software:

"Update(2006.04.14):SoftwareV2.53 released

Updated:

1. Fixed some bugges of NDSROMS 0399,0400,0388,0390,0223.
2. Increasing the num of NDS ROM PATCH Lib to 0405.
3. Added the option of NDS linkage function. Solving some of NDS games instability.

Important: Software V2.53 should work with firmware 1.61. Any user should pay attention about the CF ver. and SD ver., they are different.

NDS game GBA linkage function: Should select the NDS linkage function option when coverting NDS game, and the GBA game should be clear ROM with the same name as NDS game. The GBA game do not need to be coverted (such as: 0094Castlevania.dsq, should be have a 0094Castlevania.gba). "

Can someone shed some light on what this "linkage function" is?  Evidently it is somehow connecting an NDS game with a GBA game.  How do you link the two and what can be accomplished?

Thanks!

Koji

Linking was added last patch, this version of the software simply allows you to enable or disable the linking patch.

To link a DS game and a GBA game, they both have to have the same name. So if you want to link castlevania games name your castlevania ds something like "Castlevania DS.nds.dsq" and rename Aria of Sorrow to "Castlevania DS.gba"

Make sure the link patch is selected when you patch DS games you want to link (you don't need to patch the GBA game)

I don't understand.

What is meant by 'linking' ??

I think this would be for games where you get something special by having a GBA cartridge in the machine at the same time at you do the DS game.

Castlevania is the most prominent example, I think you either get bonus points or something when Aria Of Sorrow is in the GBA.

I don't know what other games support this ... help from the peanut gallery?

other games that seem to support this are
Pokemon Dash
Band Brothers

Holmfry

Feel the Magic also supports this with a number of Sega GBA titles, most notably the Sonic Advance series (not sure if all of them do something or not)

Band Brothers freezes before starting when you load expansion pack, so it doesn't work.

he never asked what games work, but what games use the feature
