A programer by the name of Lupidan is working on a sidescrolling Zelda platformer for the Nintendo DS. Here what he says about his progress:

QuoteThis is my first project for the NDS. It's a Zelda platformer. I'm doing my best with this game. I have already Implemented:
-> Collision system for any map of any size
-> Level system, every level is a .c file with it's images. Easy Level change. I can do as many levels as I want
-> Bombs that hurts the hero when exploding
-> Arrows Implemented
-> Most of the swords attacks implemented, normal, in the air and spin attack in the floor and in the air.
-> Title screen
-> Life system with hearts just like in traditional Zelda
-> Lots of sounds for the hero
-> 8 direction boomerang with a well done movement
-> I have added an enemy!!

Here are some pics:

Here is some video of it in action:

I think this Sprite of Link Lupi, use at this game, looks similar to the one Capcom used for the Rockman (Megaman) Zero games on GBA. Nice work. Maybe the best homebrewe games I saw. But it`s not finished yet. Lets wait and see.

Man I like it. I hope he doesent neglect the overworld ala Zelda 2, dont know why but I loved that game, seeing everything in the world from the top, then zooming down to a 2d platformer, really gets a nice feel of exploration, never got in to the top down Zeldas much.
