I have a DS Lite + 4GB SD / "no game pak inserted"

Metallica

Hi everyone,
I just bought the supercard (and superpass2), and didn't have much luck running anything on it.

Here is what I did so far:
1- copied cf_160.bin to SD card.
2- installed supercard SD 2.5 software
3- patched a small GBA game (default settings).
4- output path was set directly to SD card.
5- inserted SD card into supercard, then supercard into NDS Lite
6- turned NDS Lite ON, and then simply nothing happened (NDS started normally into main screen).

I thought maybe 4GB SD memory is not supported (since it's formatted as FAT32), so I used a 2GB memory (formatted as FAT), and did the same steps, but without any success.

Also tried it on my old DS but for no avail.

Am I doing something wrong? please help.

You can't use FAT32 with supercard (at least for now).  There is a method to format 4GB SD as FAT.  Try forums search on keyword "4GB".

DSlite needs superpass2.  Was that a typo?

Try a DS game rom.

Metallica

sorry, yes it was a typo, I have superpass2. Also I've tried a new 2GB memory TwinMOS (formatted as FAT not FAT32) but also nothing happened.

This is my first time using this product, so I decided to try it on a gba game first (since to my understanding gba games don't require superpass2 card to be inserted, right?)

clearly I don't know what I'm doing. But I'm trying to take things step by step.

I'm trying to get a gba game to run, if I succeeded I'll try on a DS game.

was the procedure I mentioned in my first post enough to get a gba game running on DS Lite + 2GB SD Card formatted as FAT?

Yes, GBA games should work without superpass2 if patched correctly.  Supercard has compatibility problems with some GBA games though.

Edit:

Did you select run GBA game option in the DS menu? The supercard only autostarts when superpass2 or FlashMe has been installed (i think).

Metallica

my DS Lite boots with supercard inserted just as it normally boots without it.
I.e. it doesn't detect or do anything special when supercard is inserted.

From what I read in these forums, I should at least see an icon on the main DS menu under the GBA panel. And by clicking that icon I should be directed to another special menu ( the supercard menu, or something like that).

could it possibly be a defective supercard?

Metallica

I just tried it on my old DS and nothing happened.

Only the usual "there is no game pak inserted" message on GBA pannel

If I remove my SD from my supercard and put it in a non-flashed DS, I get the same message.  I think the problem is with your SD or your supercard contacts.

Since the SD card is a brand new one and working fine, I think the supercard is defected.

I kind of saw it coming, cause frankly it looks like a cheap product (came with no manuals/instructions what so ever).

Anyway many thanks man for all your help. I'll just wait for a better product to come out in the future from a different vendor.

P.S. what do you mean by "non flashed DS" ?

Take a real close look at all GBA and SD contacts.  You might find a simple solution.

Factory original.  Not modified with FlashMe.

I don't have this FlashMe software (didn't come with supercard/superpass2 package).

was I supposed to do some flashing to my new DS Lite before using supercard?

bitblt

FlashMe changes your DS firmware so you can run DS games and homebrew without the need for superpass2.  You need the superpass2 to install FlashMe in the first place though.

Yes, this is smart thinking. You need to get supercard working in GBA mode before you can proceed further.

many thanks man, you really helped me a lot. And I'm so sorry I took a lot of your time. I really appreciate it.

As for me, I just gave up on this product for now, I'll just try a different one in the future.

many thanks again.

Return it for a new one.  If that isn't an option then send it to me and I'll try to fix it. Or sell it to me at reduced cost. PM me if you are interested.  Good luck.
