DS Lites are getting bricked a lot!

I've noticed a rash of people in the forums who have bricked their DS Lites while trying to flash, and I wondered what might be causing the DS Lite to power off while bridging the SL1.  What are your thoughts?  Any reason why the problem seems to be confined only to the Lite as opposed to the old DS?

Flashed mine the same day I got it from japan, no problems, had to fiddle with the ol nail quite a few times but worked fine.

Well, I dont think its a firmware thing as some people have been suggesting.
I spent an afternoon falshing everyones at work, there were 6 of them in total from all batches of lite releases.
None of them bricked although one did power off at 1%.
Was able to reboot with the a-b-x-y-st-sel thingy though.
So I reckon it is indeed that its quite east to touch something else down that there hole. Probly the screw adjacent to sl1.
FOr what its worth I was using a flat headed screw driver wrapped in gum foil.
